Qualifications:

Essential Functions:


  • Accurately ring up merchandise sales using correct departmental keys

Position Purpose:

  • Having the ability to validating Identification prior to selling tobacco and/ or alcohol (as per required under regulations).

    Job Summary

    Responsible for processing all point of sale transactions through the cash registers, accurately and in a timely manner. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    • Processes all customer sales transactions, tendering cash, credit, and open account information according to policy.
    • Provides exceptional customer service including actively greeting customers.
    • Helps sales desk with product returns and returning merchandise to stock as necessary or requested.
    • Verifies till balances at the beginning and end of each shift.
    • Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas.
    • Supports and promotes special sale items and other promotional campaigns.
    • Validates customer purchase by checking product against receipt to ensure accuracy as customers exit the store.
    • Retrieves and stocks carts.

    Nature and Scope

    • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
    • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

    Work Environment

    • Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

    Education and Experience

    • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    A Cashier is responsible for ensuring a phenomenal experience for customers through efficient and accurate customer check-out, proper cash handling, and consistently exceptional customer service.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    1. Upholds all Co-op policies, procedures and expectations.


    2. Department Operations and Customer Experience

      1. Exceed our customers' expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment for all people and all diverse backgrounds and in accordance with the Co-op's customer service standards.

      2. Model, provide, and ensure customers receive prompt, friendly and courteous services in a professional manner that markets our cooperative advantage.

      3. Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor with all customers and in all situations.

      4. Handle all transactions accurately including giving correct change, entering correct departments and prices, and appropriately handling all transactions.

      5. Maintain a working knowledge of all PLUs and register procedures.

      1. Receive payment and give change accurately with no more than one $5-plus error within a one-month period.




      1. Follow established Co-op policies and procedures in all matters relating to cash handling and financial transactions.

      2. Accurately and promptly prepare drawer money for deposit.



    1. Clerk Duties

      1. Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.

      2. Wear proper clothing in accordance with the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and department Dress Code during shift, including apron and nametag.

      3. Maintain accurate and attractive signage throughout the Front End.

      4. Keep the Front End orderly and clean.




    2. Other Duties

      1. Assist in inventory counts, storewide cleaning, and other projects as needed.

      2. Attend meetings and events as requested.

      3. Ensure equipment repair and maintenance is communicated to appropriate personnel and make adjustments until equipment has been improved.

      4. Demonstrate support for the cooperative values and principles daily.

      5. Perform other duties and work in other departments as assigned.

      6. Know and uphold the Employee Handbook consistently.

    We are searching for an experienced Part-time Associate (Cashier) at 2825 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn, CA 95603.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Part-Time Associate reports to the Store Manager and performs management-assigned duties, which may include but may not be limited to receiving inventory, stocking and maintaining a store section, operating a cash register, carry-out services and store cleaning.
