Sunflowers Home Daycare is looking to hire a teacher at our large home daycare located in Rockridge, near Village Market. We currently service 12 full-time children. 

Our program implements a dynamic, play-based curriculum that incorporates artistic and practical activities into the daily schedule. We have the following activities in our program: outdoor activities, daily circle time, arts and crafts, cooking, yoga, Zumba, and music immersion. We follow the CDC’s safety guidelines for COVID-19 very closely to keep both our kids and staff safe. At Sunflowers, you have the chance to grow as a childcare provider with a small group of kids in a nurturing environment. The monthly curriculum and activities are given at the beginning of each month, making the daily schedule that much easier to follow. Your responsibilities would include performing circle time, serving food to children, watching over the children while interacting with them in the forms of playing games, or starting activities for them to do.

Qualification requirements:  


  • Must have 12 ECE units and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

  • Self-motivated, responsible, driven, and works well with minimum supervision.

  • Organized and great time management skills.

  • Can follow and implement the lesson plan/curriculum.

  • Interact with parents in a positive, and friendly manner.

  • Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.

COVID-19 considerations: 

To keep our kids and teachers as safe as possible, we require teachers to wear a mask at all times. Parents are no longer allowed inside the building, and we prohibit entry to the school property without a proper face mask.

Program Summary:

The Good Samaritan Child Development Center provides a State-licensed, full-day preschool program for children 2 ½ to 5 years of age. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our philosophy is child-centered, rather than adult directed. The dual-language (Spanish/English) program curriculum is realized through structuring the environment into interest areas, the planning of program activities to meet each child’s individual needs, and the opportunity for active participation rather than passive observation. Children participate in developmentally appropriate activities that are designed to develop their social skills, enhance their fine and gross motor sills, encourage creative learning, cognitive development, and teach pre-literacy and skills.

 Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Preschool Director oversees day-to-day operations for early childhood education program including quality control to ensure culture and academic excellence.

Adheres and ensures compliance with local governing and licensing agencies. The Director works in collaboration with teachers to design, implement, and evaluate a culturally and developmentally appropriate program.

Provide leadership and vision for the preschool teachers to assure program quality, kindergarten readiness and student success.


  1. Evaluate all aspects of the preschool, including program design, student assessments, and program goals

  2. Ensure an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for children.

  3. Foster an atmosphere of positive communication and partnership with parents/guardians, including responding promptly and courteously to concerns and/or complaints.

  4. Create a system of regular communications with parents/guardians, including but not limited to formal/informal meetings on student progress, enrollment status, newsletters, calendars, and memos.

  5. Ensure program activities reflect best practices in child development and implement changes that will allow Good Samaritan to remain both an innovative and model preschool.

  6. Ensure the preschool provides inclusive, developmentally, and culturally appropriate learning experiences and activities.

  7. Co-facilitate and advise parent involvement including outreach, leadership development, scheduling meetings, and assisting parents in the planning and implementation of activities.

 


  1. Recruit, hire, train, and provide ongoing direct supervision for all preschool teaching staff.

  2. Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff.

  3. Provide and coordinate professional development on topics such as child development, DRDPs, compliance, licensing, and other relevant areas.

  1. Serve as the primary point person for the California Department of Education, Community Care Licensing, CPAC, First Five SF, Office of Early Care and Education, and San Francisco Early Learning Alliance (SFELA).

  2. Ensure compliance with licensing and all contracts including reporting, maintenance of student records and evaluation, attendance and parent meetings.

  3. Monitor food service including adherence to nutritional standards, safety and sanitation and administrative requirements of the California Department of Education Nutrition Services Dept.

  4. Prepare an annual program budget with Executive Director and monitor all expenditures to meet projections

  5. In collaboration with SFELA maintain waiting lists, conduct tours, and register children.

  6. Attend collaborative meetings, represent Good Samaritan in the area of early childhood education, and keep the Executive Director updated on developments in the field.

 


  1. Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner, complying with Good Samaritan’s policies and standards and conforming to the scheduling requirements of the job.

  2. Maintain a creative, team-building approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem solving orientation to all tasks.

  • BA in Early Care and Education or related subject

  • Minimum of three years in a program director experience.

  • Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing

  • DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Index clearance

  • Working knowledge of Community Care Licensing requirements, California Department of Education (California State Preschool Program) requirements and knowledge of NAEYC standards.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English

  • Ability to manage all aspects of a preschool program including staff supervision, contract management, budgeting and financial oversight

  • Knowledge in best practices in child development, dual language programs and early learning

  • Child recruitment, enrollment/registration and curriculum development

 


  • Masters degree in Education, Early Care, Social Work of related subject

  • ·Extensive knowledge of best practices in early learning curriculum, child development, and evaluation

 

Physical Requirements

Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop or crouch, kneel, lift or climb, reach with hands and arms, pull or push, or carry. Continuously required to see, talk or hear. Occasionally required to lift t less than 40 pounds. Finger dexterity and hand coordination required.

Who we are: 

Eureka Valley Arts is an art-centered childcare facility located in the heart of Eureka Valley (aka The Castro) and Diamond Heights. We provide both a Little Tykes class focused on preschool age children, as well as an after-school program focused on Elementary school age children. During the summer, we offer a full day Summer Camp, with an emphasis on getting out in the Bay Area in our two full-sized vans and providing all sorts of fun experiences for our campers.

Because of COVID we are temporarily changing our business model to help the children of essential workers during this time. Since the schools have closed, parents still need childcare that will help with online learning through SF schools, outdoor activities and Art of course.  

The Position: 

  We are looking to hire an Assistant Director/ Art Teacher to our team,  full time 5 days a week, 9-5. This is a small business with a tightly knit group of families who we serve, mostly from the surrounding Elementary schools. Desired Skills (must know at least 4): Ceramics, Cooking, Sewing (Home economics), Mixed Media, Tinkering, Laser Cutter, 3D Printing, Basic Computer skills, Wood Shop, Drawing, Painting, and a willingness to learn new things.   

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

General Childcare for children age 5-11. 

Planning and executing various art-centered projects.  

Child Pick-up at various local Elementary schools (on hold till further notice) 

 Daily Cleaning 

Organizing 

Classroom Management 

Self-Starter
