The Opportunity: As a full-time Infant/Toddler Teacher on the Stanford University campus you are responsible for nurturing each child’s creativity and curiosity on the path of growth and early learning. Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units, including 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development (required)

  • 1+ year Infant/Toddler Education Experience (preferred)

  • Knowledge of early childhood education and child development

  • Knowledge and experience with emergent curriculum - a plus

  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children

Our stand up paddleboard shop is looking for an Summer Camp Head Coach that has a love for Stand Up Paddling and a strong background in youth summer camp management. The camp supervisor is responsible for managing camp instructors and volunteers, coaching youth between the ages of 6 - 17 and promoting water and camp safety. Direct Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees daily operations and instruction of youth programs.

  • Oversees and develops instructor staff and Interns. Facilitates training for all new and returning instructors including all policies, procedures and emergency action plans.

  • Oversees the registration for all programs, to include maintenance of the registration database system, program paperwork, and addresses refund issues as needed.

  • Maintains files and paperwork for all programs while they are in session, including; participant liability and medical forms, medical emergency and incident report forms, risk management reports and policy updates.

  • Manage the regular maintenance, inventory, and repair of equipment. Coordinates with the Program Director regarding facility development, equipment maintenance, and purchases.

  • Works with Program Director to develop program curriculum, activities, and structure to meet the needs and outcomes of Youth Program

  • Must be flexible in working additional hours to include evenings and weekends.

  • May perform other duties as needed.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit with the ability to lift and carry equipment (approximately 45 pounds). Also must have the ability to stand up paddle, swim, and feel very conferrable in open water.  

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:


  • Must have had at least two years of experience with a recreation program, outdoor leadership, customer service, and supervision.

  • Have at least 2 years of experience with outdoor adventure programs and youth facilitation.

  • Ability to work well with the program director, instructors, volunteers, youth participants, parents, organizations, clients, and the surrounding community.

  • Heightened focus on Risk Management in an outdoor setting.

  • Ability to train and supervise various instructors and volunteers.

Day Camp Counselors play a vital role in the success of This Land Is Your Land Summer Day Camp. Each Counselor is matched to a group of approximately ten campers ages 4-15 for the week. Counselors lead activities, help their campers assemble their science projects, and ensure that each camper feels safe and integrated within his/her/their group as well as the larger camp experience. We are looking for people who are great with kids, like the outdoors, and have a positive and energetic attitude. Experience working with children and interest in science and nature are strongly preferred. You must have your own transportation and be reliable.

  • Priority will be given to applicants who can work all or most of the summer camp season including the first and last two weeks of camp 

  • Further priority will be given to staff that can fulfill multiple roles (i.e. day camp counselor and after care counselor)  

Hours  


  • Summer Day Camp hours are 9am - 3pm. After Care hours are 3pm – 5:30pm.  

  • Staff Schedule Day Camp Counselors- Monday: 7:45 am - 3:30 pm and Tuesday-Friday: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.  

  • Staff Schedule After Care Counselors- Monday: 7:45am – 9:45am, Monday-Friday afternoons: 2:45pm – 5:45pm  

  • Staff Meetings for Day Camp Counselors are held one day/week (usually Tuesdays) from 3:30 pm- 4:30 pm; attendance is required and paid 

  • Staff Meetings for After Care Counselors are held on Mondays immediately following the Monday morning sign in shift; attendance is required and paid 

  • Day Camp Counselors do not stay to work After Care; however, we may occasionally ask for volunteers to help supplement our After Care staff

Assistant Director

We are looking for a specialist in the area of youth leadership who will work in close partnership with the Camp Director to create an exceptional camp experience for our counselors, campers of all ages, and their families. This position provides a high-level of logistical support for our camp. 

After Care Director 

The After Care Director’s most important responsibility is to ensure that the high quality of the day camp is maintained during our After Care Program. The After Care Director manages all aspects of the After Care Program, including staff, activities, snacks, sign-in, and sign-out. We are looking for people who have demonstrated leadership experience, possess excellent communication skills, and maintain a positive and energetic attitude. Experience working with children is required, and previous camp experience is preferred. You must have your own car and be able to transport supplies daily. 

Day Camp CIT Director 

The Counselor In Training (CIT) Director is a specialist in the area of youth leadership whose work closely coincides with the Camp Director. CIT Directors create an exceptional camp experience for campers aged 11-15. The CIT Director’s most important goal is to nurture our CITs into role models for our campers. The CIT Director will help our CITs create nature walks, distribute snack, and gain valuable experience by shadowing our staff. We are looking for candidates who absolutely love working with tweens and teens and want to help bring about the next generation of leaders at Sarah’s Science. 

After Care Art Counselor 

The Art Counselor will lead art activities during our After Care Program. The Art Counselor's most important goal is to carry out art projects with our After Care campers. We are looking for people who have demonstrated a passion for arts and crafts, have excellent communication skills, and display a positive, energetic attitude at all times. Experience working with children is a must, and specific art-related experience is a plus. You must have your own vehicle and be able to transport our art supplies.

What’s the job, really?

Most Camp Directors have full-time jobs during the school year, and commit ~15 hours each week to their Camp Director role pre-camp (January-May/June), with 3-4 additional weekends of training.   • You’ll brilliantly build, lead, and maintain your camp community. From mastering operations to nurturing and retaining staff to creating camp culture and traditions, you’ll work to identify and execute on your program vision, ensuring our campers have their most magical summers ever.  


  • You’ll hire, train, collaborate with, and develop a team of anywhere from 5-50+ summer staff. You’ll be a supportive manager with high expectations, who takes this part of your role seriously. You’ll actively evaluate potential—both strengths and areas of growth—and will thoughtfully push your team to greatness in ways that have an astounding ripple effect.


  • You’ll create and build partnerships like a boss. As the face of Galileo in the community you serve, you’ll work closely with your manager on navigating grassroots marketing efforts, local staff recruiting, your host school relationship, and consistently delivering exceptional service to our camper families.

What’s the job, really?

Most Camp Directors have full-time jobs during the school year, and commit ~15 hours each week to their Camp Director role pre-camp (January-May/June), with 3-4 additional weekends of training.   • You’ll brilliantly build, lead, and maintain your camp community. From mastering operations to nurturing and retaining staff to creating camp culture and traditions, you’ll work to identify and execute on your program vision, ensuring our campers have their most magical summers ever.

Project Ember is an artistic engineering camp where kids collaboratively design and build interactive projects at a scale you have to see to believe. Every week of camp has a surprise theme, but beyond some guiding constraints, our campers have the creative freedom to design their very own projects. Without blueprints or kits, our campers and Collaborators (counselors) spend the week designing, prototyping, testing, iterating, and refining a project. And then we celebrate what we've made with a huge demonstration day. The magic of Project Ember lives at the intersection of daring creativity and inclusive collaboration. Kids are challenged to take big creative risks without guaranteed success and to work together to accomplish something bigger than they could imagine doing on their own. Vulnerability is an essential piece of meaningful creative output, personal growth, and teamwork, so we work tirelessly to create an environment where all campers feel a sense of belonging.

ABOUT THE JOB

Work with kids ages 8-14 to engineer larger than life art, structures, puppets, vehicles, mechanisms and more. Create a community of learners who celebrate mistakes, honor sincerity, and value the power of both the individual and the team. Use a huge range of supplies and tools from standard arts and crafts, to power tools and dimensional lumber. You don’t need to be perfect to apply; come with either experience making rad stuff or experience working with kids. While both is ideal, we want our team to be a mix of educators, makers, artists, facilitators, and engineers.

Your primary role will be supporting and guiding kids through the complex process of working on a team to make something bigger than themselves (figuratively and literally). You will be a teammate, doing the work right alongside the kids. You will be a facilitator, making sure every voice is heard and guiding the kids through compromise and towards consensus. You will be a leader tilting the environment towards engagement, and the project towards completion. At other times you will have to hold firm boundaries that keep kids physically and emotionally safe. Above all else, you will help create a space where kids at our camp feel seen, heard and loved.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS


  • Build large-scale projects with kids utilizing power tools (we will teach you how!)

  • Facilitate daily design sessions, establishing the scope of the project and the daily goals (we will teach you how!)

  • Uphold Project Ember’s tool use and risk management policies

  • Maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment

  • Model and teach inclusivity

  • Facilitate meaningful collaboration and mediate conflict among campers

  • Bandage scrapped knees, have heart to hearts, and celebrate vulnerability

  • Host games and program transitions

  • Share stories with families about their children

  • Co-develop curriculum and pick the summer's project themes with the rest of staff

  • Attend regular meetings focused on skills development and specific camper needs

  • Keep the site clean, orderly, and safe

  • Supervise before care, aftercare, snack, lunch and park time (though never all of them in a single day)

  • Regularly submit camper notes (these help us maintain multi-year relationships with alumni and track things like projects they worked on and delightful moments they were apart of)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


  • You have started and completed a significant project of your own volition AND/OR

  • You have experience working with children as a teacher, camp counselor, or mentor (informal experience welcome)

  • You care deeply for the well-being of young people and know how to take care of yourself so that you are able to meet their needs during program hours

  • You are an excellent communicator and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback

  • You are swift to adapt to changing situations and have a high tolerance for uncertainty.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

We’re looking for a Seasonal Staffing Coordinator who not only enjoys delivering exceptional candidate or customer care, but also relishes managing logistical details in support of the success of a team. 



  • You’ll help manage the pipeline of incredible substitute summer staff candidates, reviewing resumes in our applicant tracking system, leveraging resources to support making timely and skilled hiring decisions, and ultimately extending offers on behalf of Galileo.


  • You’ll impeccably guide new substitute hires through onboarding and associated communication, which may include everything from training follow-up to remotely supporting staff with their first on-site days at camp. 


  • You’ll be the voice of Galileo to hundreds of candidates. You will exemplify the special Galileo brand of candidate care, while skillfully and warmly delivering top-notch service to all team-members via email and phone while dispatching substitutes to over 100 camp programs.

  • Activity Leads, who act as guides and facilitators to inspire campers curiosity while ensuring children are safe, engaged and supported in activities such as The Sewing Salon, The Media Lab, The Bakery, Blocktopolis, The Arcade, The Drawing Room, Karaoke Club, Crochet Corner, and more.


  • Sports & Rec Leads, who run epic Dodgeball tournaments, fierce Capture the Flag competitions, and spirited Soccer matches (along with other sports activities), in addition to operating outrageous recreational equipment like giant inflatable slip and slides and obstacle courses.


  • Food Operations Staff, who interact with and keep hundreds of campers, staff, and parents nourished and happy each day by overseeing The Market. (Note: There is little to no food prep on site, so no culinary experience is required, and its totally fine if you dont own one of those silly chefs hats.)

  • And theres typically plenty of opportunity to mix and match roles, so if youre a coder who likes to crochet, or a sporty seamstress, you wont have to settle on just one of your passions!

Position Title:Summer Camp Counselor

Status:Seasonal, non-benefitted, At-Will**

Supervisor:Camp and Youth Director

General Function:

Under the direction of the Camp & Youth Director, the Camp Counselor will interact with and supervise campers ages 5-14 years old. Camp Counselors will assist with planning and implementing daily camp activities for a group of 16+ campers to assure that the day camp operates in a safe manner at all times, and assure the implementation of group activities.

  • Actively facilitate camper development in Outdoor Recreation Activities, Social Skill Development, Values, Multi-Cultural and Environmental Awareness.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and conduct with total staff team as a positive role model.

  • Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of daily day camp activities.

  • Adhere to and enforce Camp policies and procedures and operate day camp activities in a safe manner at all times.

  • Maintain good public relations with day camp parents.

  • Attendance at staff meetings and pre-camp training. (mandatory)

  • Be prompt to all work assignments and adhere to day camp daily schedule and operating calendar.

  • Enforces and adheres to camp procedures and policies.

  • Maintains all camp equipment and supplies.

  • Adheres to daily day camp operating schedule.

  • Facilitates camper development.

  • Cares about and gives attention to campers' needs.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Camp Leadership.

  • Purposeful and coordinated programs that advance Camp and APJCC strategic goals, good public relations, sound financial position and good records systems;

  • A positive working environment that allows for creative thinking, positive attitudes, teamwork and self-development;
