Full Job Description


The successful candidate will meet with clients to determine their design needs, and perform kitchen design using CAD software. The selected employee will work with customers, helping with selection of materials, fixtures, and creating a layout for kitchen projects. The position is part time in Denville, NJ.


Essential Functions:



  • Perform layouts of designs using the CAD software

  • Provide customer service to ensure an excellent customer experience

  • Assist with estimates and invoicing

  • Sell design services and products

  • Place orders for materials

  • Accurate measuring of job site

  • Project management


Required Education and Experience:



  • Associates Degree in Interior or Architectural Design

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience

Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Art, Architecture or Interior Design education preferred

  • Experience within a design firm or high-end and luxury retail preferred

  • Hands-on interior installation experience preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoCad

  • Experience in SketchUp is a plus

  • 3 years’ experience in customer service-related work

    Position Review:


    The Designer will work in a retail environment with customers and builders to assist with the design and product selection process.     17. Know the pricing multipliers and current lead times for all cabinet lines, countertop fabricators, and all miscellaneous products available

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Selections Consultation:

    ·         Record client selections using the company processes and policies, with an overall goal of increasing the efficiency and smoothness of the sale and design process.

    Cabinet Design & Consultation:


    ·         Complete cabinet designs in Chief Architect.


    ·         Complete countertop layout designs.

    ·         Prepare 20-20 designs and submit for ordering with Wellborn, following the company process for signoffs and review of cabinet design.


    ·         Manage the cabinet ordering process for efficiency and minimal errors.

    ·         Prepare cabinet bids for the Estimating department as requested and by agreed deadlines.


    ·         Provide consultation with a goal of making the transition from design to installation seamless and efficient.


    ·         Prepare bids, design, and contracts for small baths, and/or cabinet-only contracts.


    Other Design & Consultation Duties:


    ·         Provide additional consultation and assure design services are completed as requested by the sales team for tile design, electrical layouts, and closet designs.


     


    Position Requirements – Knowledge & Experience


    ·         Proficient in using 2020 Design Software to design and order cabinetry


    ·         Experience in cabinet layout and design; prior experience working with Wellborn cabinetry is a plus.


    ·         Advanced knowledge and expertise in interior finishes including tile, flooring, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, appliances, and hardware.  Knowledge of exterior finishes (siding, roofing) is a plus.


    ·         Experience using Chief Architect or similar design software is a plus.


    ·         Must have an eye for color and design; interior design experience or training is a plus.


    Position Requirements – Soft Skills


    ·         This position includes frequent communication with clients (on behalf of the sales team) and advanced communication skills (verbal and written) are required.

    • Daily, assist customers via technology, phone and email to create kitchens in a 3D rendering software that are functional and beautiful using world class products


    The ideal candidate will have:



    • Design school or NKBA certification or 3-5 years’ experience

    • 3D rendering software experience preferred

    • Kitchen cabinet or other product layout and design experience

    • Kitchen or interior design experience

    • Works on the showroom floor per the assigned schedule and greets potential customers when they come into the showroom
