Swim Instruction for children (ages 6 months +) and adults. Responsible for groups of up to 4 to 6 swimmers at a time or private 1:1 lessons. Swim instructors that have been certified as Water Safety Instructors and who currently hold Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications will be considered for employment first. Applicants with past swim team experience are also great candidates. Swim Instructors will be trained to teach with our methodologies after hired for employment. Applicants educated in child development, psychology and lifesaving skills are highly encouraged to apply.

Lifeguards must have Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications to be considered for any Lifeguarding jobs. Lifeguarding shifts are assigned as they come in and can vary from 2-5 hour shifts. (paid for a minimum of 2 hours)

Seahorse Swim School is hiring motivated, energetic and reliable Swim Instructors and Lifeguards for Spring, Summer and Fall swim programs. We teach all ages, levels and abilities to swim aged 6 months and up. Applicants that are hired in Spring are expected to be available for work in the Summer and Fall to maintain consistency in instructors from March to October. (You must be able to work in the Summer too).

Hours avail to teach: Tues/Thurs 2-6pm and Saturdays 9 -1 (sometimes 2) pm at Aptos location. Lifeguarding jobs are available with us throughout the County in the Spring, Summer and early Fall and are at private locations that are mostly Sat and Sun from 2-5pm. Jobs are assigned as they come up. Travel stipends are paid to travel to each location as well and you will be paid a minimum of 2 hours for any guarding job.

Pay starts at $14/hr while training, goes up to $15/hr once you are able to take on your own classes, and then is increased based on job performance, reliability and consistency. Those with experience teaching, come with good/great references and also hold a current LGT cert, will start at $15/hr (or more) as we would assume you would take on your own classes sooner and would be raised based on job performance, reliability and consistency.

Linxx Global Solutions (Linxx) is currently seeking fully qualified instructors with demonstrated experience in a Waterborne Security Boat operational environment with a current Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) applicable to Virginia and North Carolina. The positions are located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 


Responsibilities


Instruct the following high-risk training courses: Level II Coxswain Operations and Tactics; Harbor Security Boat Training Supervisor; and Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure Boat Crew Team Training



  • Conduct training 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (daily activity may extend up to 10 hours), as well as student remediation

  • Deliver training in accordance with the government-approved curriculum; if required, identify changes to the curriculum using a formal process through the proper chain of command

  • Provide student performance information and participate in U.S. Navy Academic Review Board Procedures if required

  • Maintain decorum, order, and safety in the training environment at all times

  • Participate in all aspects of training delivery preparations and execution, including classroom preparation, student administration, test proctoring, and safety procedures


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience in the logistical movement of small craft and associated gear

  • Experience in tactical operations planning, military decision making, organizational and individual planning, patrol coordination, concepts of operation, warning, patrol, and mission briefing

  • Capability to perform all training evolutions, including effectively completing weapons qualifications, in the standing, kneeling, and prone positions

  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders and go through narrow passageways without any abnormal fear of heights


Required Qualifications



  • Navy Instructor Training Course (or military service equivalent), academic credentialing (teacher/professor), or instructor via academic institution (Tidewater Community College MILT 5100 meets the requirements listed above)

  • A minimum of three years of documented operational security boat experience serving in one of the following:


o U.S. Navy Harbor Security Maritime Detachment
o U.S. Navy Coastal Riverine Forces Detachment
o U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman
o U.S. Marine Corps Small Craft Company
o U.S. Coast Guard Shore-Based Boat Unit or Maritime Patrol Forces (fast boat cutters, patrol boats, and coastal patrol boats)
o U.S. Coast Guard Deployable Specialized Forces (Maritime Security Response Team, Maritime Safety and Security Team, and Port Security Units)



  • Ability to safely plan and deliver group-paced instruction on security boat tactics, techniques, and procedures in the classroom and while underway

  • Ability to conduct training primarily in the operational lab environment on various small craft in all weather conditions, including cold, rainy, hot, and dry conditions

  • Ability to qualify with the service pistol prior to assumption of duties

  • Skilled in safety and operational risk management, classroom teaching fundamentals, training requirements and plans, and training scenario scripting

  • Three years of documented tactical and leadership experience in a maritime environment (i.e., coxswain, maritime navigation, small-boat tactical operations, and craft systems and sub-systems)

  • Ability to attend and complete the Crew-Served Weapons Operations and Maintenance and Crew-Served Weapons Instructor courses

  • Ability to complete the Personnel Qualification Standards for Line Coach (Crew-Served Weapons) and Range Safety Officer

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • Second Class Swimmer certification or the ability to obtain it

  • Valid driver's license

  • Class "C" commercial driver's license or ability to obtain it

  • Ability to pass medical, physical, and drug/alcohol screenings

  • Ability to comply with the Lautenberg Amendment

  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) certification

Job Overview


The Dock Master/Maintenance will be responsible for the overall conditions of the Marina/docks at Pelican Bay – Cherry Creek facility. He/she will have to be diverse enough to handle from the smallest maintenance to one of a large emergency.


Responsibilities


· Maintenance and repair on all dock systems both floating and fixed.


· Set up of, implementation of and continuation of a weekly checklist for the dock system. To make sure that all portions of the dock are in good repair, safe condition and working order at all times.


· Maintenance and repair of all vehicles, equipment, tools and lawn equipment.


· Maintenance and repair on all buildings, fixtures and supporting equipment.


· Scheduling and training of personnel to maintain lawns, plant beds and other landscaping.


· Scheduling and training of personnel taking care of rubbish containers, dumpsters and overall cleanliness of the facility.


· Responsible for adequate supplies to maintain all functions of the facility at all times.


· Maintaining proper parts and supplies for all equipment in case of emergency repairs.


· Responsible for preparing and maintaining the following documents:


· Maintenance manual for docks.


· Weekly checklist for dock system.


· Maintenance manual and checklist for all vehicles


· Training schedule for janitorial Staff.


· Training schedule for grounds keepers.


· Winterize manual for docks, buildings, water supply systems and equipment.


· Checklist for the above winterization procedures.


· Maintenance manuals and checklists for buildings.


· Maintain following documents and regulations set forth by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA):


· Establish and maintain written hazardous communication program.


· Accumulate and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all hazardous chemicals.


· Complete chemical inventory at all times.


· Train all Employees on a yearly basis about the chemicals they work with.


· Inform Employees regarding personal protective equipment that must be used in order to work more safely.


· Record all training that takes place and have Employees sign the same.


· Responsible for accident investigating and recording.


· Maintaining OSHA log.


· Establish safe work practices.


· Maintain manifest, etc., for shipment of waste.


· Maintain all fire fighting equipment and assist local fire departments with their annual inspections.


· To become familiar and in compliance with NFPA 303 manual.


· Organize and implement all emergency procedures for any type of incident that may happen.


· Prepare budget for all aspects of maintenance equipment, personnel, repairs, preventative maintenance and parts.


· Assist in all future expansions of facility to ensure easy maintenance full knowledge of expansion.


· Participate on all major repairs and expansion projects from outside contractors to receive at least three (3) qualified bids.


· Prepare weekly schedules for Employees to be turned in to Office Manager


· Maintain proper job descriptions for the following positions:


· Janitorial staff


· Grounds keepers


· Equipment personnel


· Security staff


· Plan and conduct Marina maintenance and repairs in a timely manner while adhering to budgets and regulatory requirements.


· Any other duties as assigned by the Management.


Additional Responsibilities


· Coordinate the work force under his/her responsibility to ensure safe, smooth operations, wet slip docking, fuelling, maintenance and housekeeping.


· Instil in all Employees safe working practices.


· Set duty assignments and schedules with approval from supervisor.


· Maintain grounds, equipment and buildings in such a manner that they are aesthetically and operationally at best and within all legal requirements.


· Identification of maintenance, repair and housekeeping needs. With


supervisors, establish priorities and a time table to schedule necessary work.


· Keep accurate check lists and records of maintenance and repairs as required (including


forklifts, elevators, fueling equipment, harbor boat, docks, piers, seawall, jib crane,


emergency and safety equipment, outside lighting, bait equipment, etc.


· Be aware of expense budgets for maintenance and operate within.


· Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing repairs required. Must be able to weld.


· Heavy lifting required,


· Working in high places sometimes required.


· Knowledge of painting preparation and painting.


· Ability to safely use power tools required.


· Maintain supply inventories for maintenance and cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, tools, and oil spill equipment.


· Assistance in special Marina functions


· Marina store duties including:


· Opening and closing of store.


· Inventory assistance.


· Writing sales tickets.


· Know general inventory and applications to assist customers in their needs.


· Promote store merchandise through conversations and assistance with


customer problems.


· Proficiency in VHF base radio operations.


· Know correct Tornado, fire, first aid and oil spill, man overboard, and boat sinking procedures - coordinate activities of your workers during implementation of these procedures.


· Know live bait keeping procedures and laws (if applicable). Strictly adhere to them.


· Maintain daily boat activity reports - which doubles as a check list to ensure all boats return to Marina within scheduled "float plan".


· Know all harbor regulations, contractual provisions, enforcement policies, and rate schedules.


· Report all boat, rack, dock damage to Management immediately & make effective repairs.


· Assume additional responsibilities as assigned in the absence of the Harbormaster


Decision Impact


A bad decision in facility maintenance can cause temporary or permanent loss of the storage and/or dockage units and equipment as well as the loss of customer's boats. Customer service and Marina revenues could suffer significant losses, and the repair or replacement expenses could be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.


Minimum Qualifications


· Working knowledge of how a Marina works in the physical dimensions, such as:


· Dock systems


· Electrical system


· Plumbing


· Mechanical


· Equipment


· Welding


· Working understanding of Safety procedures and record keeping.


· Management and supervisory skills.


· Ability to relate to customer satisfaction.


· Understanding of how to plan for preventive maintenance and new project costing, bidding and implementing.

· General knowledge of Marina facility and its operations.

Job Description


 


Autem Novus is actively seeking rescue boat operations instructors for the USN standard 7 meter RHIB and USCG 41 foot utility boat (ex-USCG 41UB). The contractor will work with Government Service and US Navy personnel delivering provided group-paced instruction on small boat familiarization, standard operating procedures, and casualty control procedures in both a classroom and underway training environments. Training to include, but not limited to:



  • Pre-operations checks/start up and shut down procedures

  • Boat Equipment familiarization

  • In-water victim rescue operations

  • Maneuvering around rocks and similar hazards

  • Running alongside another vessel underway

  • Towing

  • Searching

  • Rules of the road

  • Pivot turns and heavy weather operations

  • Sponson and valve repairs.


 


Small Boat Rescue Operations training shall be conducted in the classroom, and onboard the 7 Meter RIB and 41 FT Utility Boat. Training will occur in Norfolk, Virginia. Three courses will occur over the summer months, two three-day classes, and one four-day class, for a maximum of 10 students each class.


 


GENERAL DUTIES:


 



  • Perform classroom and operational instruction.

  • Provide basic and specialized training related to small boat operations.

  • Adhere to and maintain academic standards in accordance with assessment standards for the course.

  • Provide remediation if necessary to improve student’s course performance.

  • Maintain classroom decorum and order.

  • Provide supervision during all activities or evolutions in which students are participating that are related to associated enabling or terminal objectives of the curriculum to provide appropriate instructional supervision, oversight, and subject matter support.

  • Assist in the classroom preparation, student administration, and safety procedures accomplished to avoid interruptions in the training day and promote a safe and secure environment conducive to learning.

  • Maintain high personal standards of technical knowledge and demonstrate professional competence in delivering training material.

  • Practical training days may last up to 10 hours a day.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


 



  • Active state driver's license

  • Physically fit.

  • Able to withstand moderate physical exertion such as long periods standing, walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces requiring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities in all types of weather conditions ranging from very hot (110 F summer) to very cold (30F winter).

  • Lifting of items up to 50 lbs.

  • May require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as average agility and dexterity.

  • Individuals cannot have seizure disorders, abnormal and uncorrectable near vision, be colorblind, or have substantial hearing loss (hearing aid is acceptable).

  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and schematics.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office, including MS Word, MS -Excel and Power Point

  • Must possess at least one of the following qualifications (or equivalent)

  • Navy Enlisted Code (NEC) (9502) 805A Instructor

  • Navy NEC (9518) A12A Professional Development Instructor

  • Completed Journeyman Instructor Training (JIT) or equivalent

  • Qualified Navy Second Class Swimmer or equivalent

  • Four (4) years documented small boat/craft tactical experience in a maritime environment with proficiency in: Maritime Navigation, "Tactical Boat Operations, and Military decision-making processes (Begin, Arrange, Make, Complete, Issue, Supervise (BAMCIS)); Organizational and individual planning; Tactical Boat Patrol Coordination; Development and issuance of Concept of Operations, Warning Order, Patrol Order, and Mission Debriefing.
