Redfield Cider Bar & Bottle Shop is located in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, run by wife and husband team Olivia and Mike. Position Overview 

We’re looking for a person that is passionate about niche beverages and giving incredible customer service. The Bartender will be responsible for checking out customers, fulfilling drink orders, plating simple food offerings, and maintaining a clean, organized bar while serving customers in a professional and positive manner. The ideal candidate is familiar with serving cider, beer and wine but is also interested in learning more about these fermented products. Primary Responsibilities 


  • Greet and welcome guests 

  • Educate customers on menu options, including food menu items and ingredients

  • Clear tables of empty plates and glassware

The preferred candidate for this role should have several years of professional baking experience including but not limited to dividing doughs, shaping baguettes, baking in a rack oven and a deck oven, scoring sourdoughs, and judging doneness of proofing and baking. This is a highly physical job and the baker must be able to stand and walk during the entirety of the shift and carry 50 pounds. Some packing of bread and pastries is also required and the best candidates should be hyper-organized. THE SAN MATEO COUNTY EVENT CENTER IS SEEKING EXPERIENCED BARTENDERS/FOOD SERVICE CASHIERS TO WORK SPECIAL EVENTS


The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility which hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair and operates the Jockey Club, a satellite wagering facility for horseracing as well as a full-service catering and food service operation.  The Bartender responsible for the mixing, pouring and serving of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and providing superior service to patrons during select events.   The Food Service Cashier works in our concessions department with various roles including concessions cashier, barista and coffee shop support.  This is an on call position to provide bartender and concessions services during select events on an as needed basis.  


Rate of pay:  $22.00 per hour 


Essential Functions/Responsibilities


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:



  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner and takes customer orders.

  • Mixes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.

  • Check guests for proper identification. Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained.

  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Inputs orders into register at the point of sale, collect cash or process credit card payments and maintain accountability for all beverages served. 

  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up and clean-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes placement of portable bars, requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.

  • Act as cashier operating the POS/cash register in multiple locations to ensure an accurate and smooth flow of customer traffic while providing excellent customer service. 

  • Function as Barista making specified drinks as ordered by customers with an emphasis on Starbucks style recipe drinks.

  • Provide assistance in distributing food and beverage items to customers.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must be reliable and punctual for all scheduled shifts.

  • Extensive knowledge of classic cocktails, liquors and beers.

  • Must have experience handling cash and credit card transactions.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work fast and under pressure.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 

  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients and customers using principles of good customer service.

  • Must be well groomed and adhere to proper dress code.
