The Coffee House at Chestnut & Pine opens early and stays up late. We are a community gathering space with a passion for the arts. We have Open Mic every Thursday, live music on the weekends, and rotating art exhibits. Our menu includes quality coffee drinks from Anodyne Roasting Company in Milwaukee, specialty sandwiches, flatbreads, small plates, beer and wine. We work hard and we have fun!

NOW HIRING: part-time baristas; 25+ hours to start with possibility for full-time. 

HOURS: Candidate should be flexible with work schedule. Hours needed are between 5:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Must be able to work weekends and evenings. 

JOB DUTIES include but not limited to: preparing specialty coffee drinks, maintaining a clean work space, washing dishes, cash handling, assisting with special events, and customer interaction. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Good customer service skills to communicate and interface with customers. Ability to learn new concepts and follow instructions to prepare specialty drinks based on customer specifications. Ability to work in high paced environment while delivering good quality service with a smile.

Farley’s East in Uptown Oakland has recently expanded our coffee program and  is looking for passionate Baristas to join its tight knit team!  As demand for our coffee has grown, we expanded into the space next-store to create a dedicated coffee bar with dual espresso machines! This new coffee focused area of the cafe will be used for cuppings, training, faster customer service, and feature guest roasters in addition our own in-house roasted coffees. 

Farley’s has been a family-run business since 1989, with Farley’s East opening in Oakland in 2009. We’ve grown with the neighborhood and our loyal customers over the years to keep serving the highest quality coffee drinks we can. We’ve had longstanding relationships with several local coffee roasters, and in 2016 we proudly began roasting and serving our own coffee blends. 

We’re looking for a Barista with previous craft coffee experience that wants to continue growing their Barista skills and develop a deep relationship with the coffee we roast for our customers. You must be able to balance uncompromising quality with genuine customer interaction and extremely busy drink rushes (with plenty of help and support from your coworkers of course!)

We have two shifts per day. Morning Shift: 5:45am-1pm Afternoon Shift 10:45am-6pm.

We are currently looking for candidates for the afternoon shift.

PART-TIME (2 or 3 days/week) Both Shifts on Mon & Wed are available. Plus one additional shift can be either on Thurs or Fri. 

FULL_TIME: 5 shifts per week Mon to Fri. Must be willing to do both morning and afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities include:


  • providing friendly customer service

  • preparing chai (We'll train you but you need to have a passion to learn)

  • Entering sales accurately in the POS system and reconciling sales at the end of the shift

  • stocking, cleaning and organizing the cart

  • taking initiative to make things better
