Requirements for Bread Baker Position:



  • At least 1 year of professional bread experience. 

  • Proficient in following areas for production: scaling, mixing, shaping, proofing and baking. Items include but not limited to: sourdough, pain de mie, pretzels, focaccia, baguettes, hearth breads and buns.  Experienced in using bakery equipment, such as divider, rounder, deck oven & rack oven.

  • Availability and ability to work full time (4-5 consecutive days).

We are a family owned cafe and bakery that has been in business for many years and still going strong!

We are seeking a dynamic individual with restaurant management experience to lead day to day operations for our ELMHURST cafe. If selected, you will work with the owner and general manager to continue our success by providing excellent customer service to drive sales, controlling costs, managing quality and consistency of product and service.

REQUIREMENTS (including but not limited)

- minimum 1 year management experience preferably in fast casual setting

- IL food service manager certification

- Longevity with past employers

- uphold company policies and procedures

- promote/maintain a positive learning environment

- hands on with all FOH roles for a successful shift

- monitor and approve comps

- assign employee roles (part of scheduling and as needed changes during shift)

- proficient in all BOH and FOH roles after completed training

- address and solve guest complaints

- complete opening/closing/daily checklists

- responsibility and security of cash drawers and banks

- be able to stand/walk during entire shift

- accept direction and criticism from GM

- maintain calm composure during stressful situations

- move up to 50#

- promote and manage social media accounts

We are looking for a part-time retail assistant to help us with our Farmers' Markets, three times a week (Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays), with the possibility of picking up additional in-store retail shifts and running morning deliveries.

 

You will be responsible for loading up baked goods into our van (usually around 6:45am), driving to the markets (Tuesdays in Alameda, Saturdays in Walnut Creek, Sundays in San Mateo), setting up our tents and tables, and working either independently or with a partner to sell our products and provide excellent customer service.  At the end of the market (Tues/Sat run 9am-1pm; Sun 9:30-1:30) you'll break down the setup, and drive back to the bakery.  You must have a drivers' license for this job.  

 

Retail shifts at the physical bakery include making coffee and espresso drinks, taking bread and pastry orders, and keeping the front of house nice and clean.  There is almost always the opportunity to earn a few extra hours helping out in the back too, whether it's scooping cookies or washing fruit!

Brrrista Responsibilities


  • Proudly act as the face of the Smitten brand in every guest interaction

  • Churn each ice cream from scratch using our patented technology and serve each guest the perfect scoop

  • Welcome guests into our shop and ensure their experience is memorable, meaningful, and full of joy

  • Hold yourself and your teammates to the highest product quality standards

  • Embody the "whatever-it-takes" attitude when it comes to problem solving - jump right in and find the best solution!

  • Team up with Shift Leads and General Manager to execute exceptionally smooth in-shop operations

Brrrista Requirements


  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Able to lift up to 50lbs

  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours at a time

  • Authorized to work in the United States
