The Midwife and The Baker is a wholesale bakery in Mt. View specializing in freshly milled, whole grain, organic bread and pastries. We are a growing team and are looking for an experienced manager for our evening shift.

The shift is from 4 pm to 1:30 am, 5 days a week. Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.

The preferred candidate for this role should have several years of professional baking experience including but not limited to dividing doughs, shaping baguettes, baking in a rack oven and a deck oven, scoring sourdoughs, and judging doneness of proofing and baking. About You

You should love chocolate as much as we do, but you don’t have to know everything -- we’ll teach you everything we know. After adequate shadowing and hands-on training, you will join our production team in their daily routine—roasting, cracking, sorting and winnowing cocoa beans, then tempering and molding chocolate bars. This is a physical job, but it’s a labor of love. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team working at our new factory on 16th Street where we are scaling up our processes and production, while striving to make some of the world’s best chocolate.

You must be comfortable working with machinery and willing to go with the flow as processes change and develop and to work independently as well as with our team of chocolate makers. 1. Conduct physical exams and document medical and medication history for clients admitted into Joe Healy Detoxification Program (JHDP).


2. Prescribes, monitors and assesses efficacy of withdrawal protocol medications.


3. Prescribes, monitors and assesses efficacy of physical and mental health medications based on assessment.


4. Assesses clients for potential medication assisted therapy (MAT), post-withdrawal protocol, and initiates MAT with client consent.

6. Completes Incidental Medical Services documentation for approved protocols at JHDP.

 Position Overview: 


Physician Assistant (PA) acting within their scope of practice and under the supervision of the Medical Director will actively facilitate patients’ recovery.


PA will apply medical techniques and principles under the direction of a physician and attend to a diverse set of clients requiring substance use disorder detoxification offering them care and therapeutic interventions.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


 


· Acquire and review patient histories identifying substance use disorder withdrawal needs and any abnormal conditions.  Complete required Drug Medi-Cal forms for all admitted clients


· Assess clients for initiation of withdrawal protocols for alcohol, benzodiazepines and opiates


· Have familiarity with clients who present with co-occurring psychiatric disorders and treatment thereof in consultation with Medical Director, client primary psychiatric provider or community based psychiatric urgent care agencies  


· Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc.). 


· Establish diagnoses and provide referrals to specialists when required


· Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, procedures occurring in the community during the treatment episode or other medical events in the electronic health record and other documentation processes


· Prescribe and refill medications as needed  


· Order, review and act on lab work results as determined necessary


· Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise


· Attend to emergencies


· Provide therapeutic treatments (wound care, removing sutures, etc.)


·Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients


·Comply strictly with medical care regulations and Standardized Protocols for Physician Assistants


·Collaborate effectively with team members of various specializations


·Other duties as assigned within scope of practice. 


 


Qualifications


·Possess and maintain a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of California.  Possess and maintain a valid DEA furnishing license

· Be available for consultation with residential program managers and staff.


· Conduct periodic random chart reviews in collaboration with agency Quality Improvement Department to ensure documented evidence of adherence to physician orders.


· Participate in discharge planning where warranted to insure follow-up on medical or healthcare needs.


· Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


· Must have a current license to practice internal or family medicine in the State of California. Board certification is desirable.


· At least 2 years’ experience serving diverse populations with substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, mental health related issues and homeless cofactors is highly desirable.


Physical Requirements


· Must be able to navigate several flights of stairs many times a day.


· Must be able to lift 20 pounds.


· Must be able to physically respond to clients' needs in the event of a crisis situation.


· Must be able to do extensive charting and documentation.

What You'll be Doing:



  • Prepare all SusieCakes product offerings, custom and specialty cakes as guests’ request


  • Maintain the SusieCakes quality standards in the creation of each product


  • Clean and store pots, pans, utensils and dishes either by hand or utilizing dishwashing equipment


  • Perform culinary food preparation and other duties as instructed by the Manager-on-Duty (MOD), Head Baker, or General Manager



 


Requirements:



  • One year of previous culinary experience, pastry/baking experience strongly preferred


  • Must be able to safely utilize all bakery equipment


  • Attention to detail



 


This position is compensated with a base hourly rate + tips and is eligible for overtime.
