Under the direction of the Director of Early Education, perform professional and supervisory work involving the organization and direction of teaching staff at center-based classrooms and home-based options. This position will coordinate with the multidisciplinary team (Enrollment Staff, Disabilities Specialist, health, education and nutritional staff) to assist with planning, implementing, and monitoring services to children and families enrolled in early education programs.Evaluate and coach staff to align teaching strategies, environments and interactions with children and parents with ECERS, ITERS, ASQ’s, CSEFEL, DRDP and/or CLASS performance standards. Adequately equip staff and classrooms to ensure program compliance with state, federal and all funding source guidelines (including California Department of Education, Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards, Community Care Licensing regulations, and other funding sources).

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Services, or a closely related field with a minimum of 24-semester units in early childhood. Program Director permit required. Employees working in Early Head Start must have a minimum of six units in Infant/Toddler care and development. Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Experience: Five years of Early Education experience including no less than at least three years in a supervisory role.Knowledge of: The child welfare system, childhood development, and child abuse issues.

Ability to: Gather and analyze data; organize and write reports, read, understand, interpret and apply pertinent rules and regulations; express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain working relationships with others; present oneself professionally. Take initiative but also accept direction and seek guidance appropriately.Technical Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook) and ability to learn server general maintenance functions and other software as requested.

Two Jewish community centers, JCC East Bay and Contra Costa JCC, have collaborated to create a new Winter Camp in Lafayette, California. This camp serves campers Kindergarten to 3rd grade, with optional CIT track for older children, and will take place at the Contra Costa Jewish Day School. Our camp provides a safe place for children to learn and practice social skills, explore their creativity, and expand their knowledge of Jewish values and culture.

Our vision for this Winter Camp is a Jewish day camp complete with opportunities to explore tikkun olam (healing the world) by baking challah bread to deliver to the homeless through Challah for Hunger and the local Winter Nights program, a garden available on site in which campers can explore environmentalism, and the possibility of field trips to nearby hiking trails.

We will celebrate Shabbat every Friday and incorporate Judaic themes throughout camp programming, yet pride ourselves on being inclusive to all religious beliefs and practices. The Camp staff is a team that works together to create a community where each member is enriched by the experience. Our emphasis during camp is to nurture the campers in a safe environment that allows them to feel a strong sense of community as well as celebrate themselves as an individual. Our team includes people of both Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds who are committed to enhancing the lives of children in positive and meaningful ways.

Schedule

Camp will run from Dec 23 to Jan 3, 9:00am to 3:30pm daily, with pick up from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. There will also be optional early care (from 8:00am) and after care (until 6:00pm). Camp will be closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day, and after care will not be offered on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Mandatory staff training in December (dates TBD).

We are also hiring for substitute counselors. Substitute counselors should have all qualifications of general counselors, and be available on an as-need basis during the Camp. They may be called in for reasons other than counselor (ex: helping move in or out of camp).

Position Summary

The Camp Director has the overall responsibility for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all vacation and summer camp programs. Essential Job Functions:


  • Creating a dynamic vision for a cohesive day camp program centered around the JCC facility, including traditional and specialty camp offerings.

  • Grow total camper enrollment and departmental revenue through enhanced marketing, outreach, relationship-building, programming, and recruitment.

  • Supervising camp leadership staff and administrative staff.

  • Hire, recruit, interview and evaluate camp staff.

  • Plan and execute staff orientation and ongoing training, scheduling staff and leading staff meetings

  • Being responsible for all aspects of camper safety.

  • Act as the primary liaison with parents.

  • Maintain rooms and spaces inside and outside the building utilized by camp and coordinating facility usage with building services staff.

  • Ensuring that camp operations are in line with American Camp Association standards.

  • Building relationships with parents, schools, and community leaders.

  • Lead the JCC’s year-round Vacation Camp program, which operates on days when area schools are closed. This includes staffing, scheduling of activities, registration, supplies and snacks and anything else pertinent to a successful program

  • Planning and assisting with special camp events throughout the year, agency-wide events, and community-wide programs.

  • Attending and participating in monthly staff meetings and weekly supervisory meetings.

  • Working with the marketing department regarding publicity, public relations and marketing plans for camp programs.

  • Model appropriate behavior to staff and campers.

  • Provide behavior management techniques and intervention for campers where necessary

  • Create a culture of trust and feedback.

  • Must be a college graduate.

  • Minimum of 5 years working in camp, or camp-like setting.

About the Organization

Two Jewish community centers, JCC East Bay and Contra Costa JCC, have collaborated to create new programs in Contra Costa County and the Tri-Valley area. Our Winter Camp in Lafayette, California is the first of many major collaborative programs. Both JCCs create healthy communities inspired by Jewish values, culture, and tradition. We provide programs and gathering spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the greater East Bay to advance, nurture, and evolve Jewish communal life and contribute to the vitality of the broader community.

Position Summary

The Winter Camp Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Winter Camp sponsored collaboratively by the JCC East Bay and Contra Costa JCC. This camp serves campers Kindergarten to 3rd grade, with optional CIT track for older children, and will take place at the Contra Costa Jewish Day School. Our camp provides a safe place for children to learn and practice social skills, explore their creativity, and expand their knowledge of Jewish values and culture. The Camp Manager’s primary responsibilities are to create the programs of Camp, to design and implement trainings for counselors, and to both mentor and supervise counselors during the entirety of camp. This position is a contract position for the month of December through January 3rd with one follow-up meeting; after Winter Camp has finished, there may be opportunities to join our staff more permanently and/or to return for a summer camp.

Daily Camp Schedule

Camp will run from Dec 23 to Jan 3, 9:00am to 3:30pm daily, with pick up from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. There will also be optional early care (from 8:00am) and after care (until 6:00pm). Camp will be closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day, and after care will not be offered on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Mandatory staff training in December (dates TBD).

Key Responsibilities


  • Plan all programmatic aspects of camp, such as field trips, special days, activity areas and Shabbat

  • Direct all aspects of camp: staff training, staff meetings, any camper check-ins, etc.

  • Act as the primary liaison with parents.

  • Assist the Public Programs Manager in coordination of the Challah for Hunger and Winter Nights components of the program

  • Implement systems to organize and inventory all camp supplies

  • Assist in camp marketing and outreach

Duties Pre-Camp

  • Prepare camp for opening and closing.

  • Assist in pre-camp parent communication.

Duties During Camp


  • Supervise camp.

  • Provide support to counselors.

  • Speak to parents on an as needed basis and provide support for counselors in their communication.

  • Be familiar with and enforce the personnel policies, safety rules, and program of camp.

  • Keep records as required, including documenting any incidents or behavioral issues.

  • Ensure for the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp.

  • Model appropriate behavior to staff and campers.

  • Provide behavior management techniques and intervention for campers where necessary.

  • Evaluate the performance of each counselor, both informally and written.

  • Create a culture of trust and feedback with camp staff.

  • Perform any other program or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor.

Hanna Boys Center is a private nonprofit which provides a therapeutic, residential school program to underserved adolescent boys. Additionally, Hanna provides training and consultative services through the Hanna Institute, in the area of childhood trauma, to other youth serving organizations. We work collaboratively with these organizations to help them improve care and enhance program outcomes.

The Youth Counselor is responsible for supervising the daily living experience and for providing a consistent and caring environment for each resident under their care. This includes teaching socially appropriate skills, planning trips and activities, helping with homework, providing discipline, and teaching appropriate conflict resolution.

The Youth Counselor acts as a positive adult role model in all areas by demonstrating and developing positive interactive relationships while establishing clear boundaries for the residents. Additionally, Youth Counselors are expected to implement treatment approaches and or techniques which include Restorative Practice, Life Space Interviews, Universal Trauma Training, ACE Study, Workforce Protection and Policies that Reflect Trauma Informed Care.

TRAINING: Five weeks of comprehensive training for all new staff members, and continued training and professional enhancement for the duration of employment.

STARTING SALARY: $34,000+ annually

ROOM & BOARD PROVIDED: Each staff is provided a private room with a shared living area, kitchenette, game room and washer and dryers.

EXCELLENT BENEFITS: Health, Dental, Vision and 401k retirement plan. 5&1/2 weeks of Paid Time Off and 5 paid Holidays annually.

SHIFTS: Shifts are 4 days per week and sleepovers are required. There are three shifts available:

• Sunday through Wednesday,

  • Follows all procedures to ensure safety and cleanliness

  • Cleans and sanitizes all items at end of day, or during day as necessary

  • Inspects toys regularly, and removes those not suitable for safe play

  • Checks supplies inventory and reports inventory items in low supply to be ordered

  • Communicates to pet parents about their pets

  • Takes pictures of dogs and completes reports each day

  • Reports any safety concerns and needed repairs immediately

  • Supports our company Mission and Philosophy

  • Assists other associates as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Must love dogs

  • Must be high school graduate or equivalent

  • Must treview and complete training materials within 30 days

  • Must be able to handle large dogs on leashes

  • Must have minimum of 1 year dog handling experience

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

  • Must be able to be on feet for full shift and able to stand/ walk frequently

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat

  • Must be able to work on computer or tablet, and complete written reports

  • Must be able to work in a noisy/loud environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander,and excrement.

  • Must display a professional manner at all times

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen once hired

Dog-E-Den is a new Dog Care facility in Hollywood located on Sunset Blvd. and we are looking for responsible dog handlers to join our team. Dog handlers supervise, care for and play with our canine guests. We are searching for motivated dog lovers who don't mind getting dirty or hard work. Employees must be available to work weekends and on holidays as this is our busiest time.

Description:

- Supervising play

- Feeding meals

- Administering medications

- Washing dog dishes

- General cleaning and maintenance chores will be assigned daily

-Being on your feet for up to 8 hours

This is an enjoyable job with animals but staff is not here just to "pet puppies"; there is barking, flying hair, dirty paws and very physical work involved. This position can also lead to a supervising role for the right candidate.

Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and should be comfortable handling all types of dogs in a humane manner. Applicants should have a flexible schedule that allows them to work nights if necessary. You should be able to lift 50 lbs. and expect to be physically active for your entire shift. You should be able to work equally well either independently or as a team. Along with a strong work ethic and physical stamina, please be responsible, honest, patient and prompt; possess good verbal communication skills, a sense of humor and most importantly, a positive attitude.
