Position Responsibilities


The Graphic Designer uses all information and aesthetic specifications to conceptualize and create both print and digital collateral. They ensure projects are completed as scheduled and approved by the Creative Director. Visual clarity, an eye for details and a strong grasp of brand message are essential skills for this role.


Minimum Experience Required:


• At least 18 years of age


• Ability to show work eligibility in the state of California


• 2+ years of equivalent experience or a degree in graphic design, fine arts or a related field


• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines


• Must be an expert in Adobe Creative Suite, to include video content creation


• Must be familiar with tablets


Graphic Design


• Conceptualize visuals based on requirements


• Study available information and materials to be used in design


• Prepare rough drafts for approval


• Edit designs after feedback


• Work with Creative Director to produce final collateral


• Coordinate with print house for prepress approval, color proofing/correction and final print


• Ensure brand consistency and visual appeal in all artwork across various channels & mediums Photo Editing


• Retouch and edit photos according to seasonal/brand specifications


• Catalog photos to be used across platforms


• Resize and rename all files

Marucci is currently seeking a highly skilled & motivated Sr. Technical Designer  with experience in Men’s & Women’s Apparel, with a strong emphasis in both the on and off the field categories to join our team.


The Senior Technical Designer  role manages their product category from initial design and trend concept to final approval. They collaborate with Design and cross-functional teams to achieve the design aesthetic, fit and functional intent of their category. As an expert in fit and garment balance they are responsible for clearly communicating with their factories all corrections, design aesthetic and pattern adjustments to drive the final results required.

  • Responsible for full life cycle, development through bulk approval while maintaining brand integrity.

  • Lead fit sessions on live models with cross-functional teams ensuring size, fit consistency & balance of the garment has been executed to achieve the design aesthetic & functionality .

  • Develop block pattern & technical specifications by brand/classification in support of the brand profile, design vision & appropriate athlete bases. Build technical specifications including technical illustration, construction details/seam specification, measurement spec, and trim requirements.

  • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction to factories via Photoshop, pattern diagram or directly on pattern.

  • Track, record & organize garments & information to ensure timely fit sessions from first proto to production approval.

  • Work cross-functionally with Design, Product management, Sourcing, and Merchandising teams to align on strategic intent of the brand.

  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and adapt quickly to change.

  • Track and manage personal workload and workflow to meet weekly & seasonal deadlines.

  • Identify potential production, quality and costing challenges and make recommendations.

  • Research, analyze and conduct competitive studies to provide continual learnings and recommendations for style & categories on fit, sizing, construction, functionality & emerging technologies.

  • Assist in mentoring, developing, and teaching pattern and technical skills, processes, and procedures to technical team members.


Education and Experience: To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following credentials:



  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Apparel/Textiles, Fashion Design or related degree from an accredited University.

  • 5 + years of experience as a Technical designer.

  • 2 + years of people management experience.

  • Expertise in:

    • Fit & garment balance

    • Evaluation of body size, shape and the relationship of clothing on the target body.

    • Production patternmaking, grading and construction for multiple product types & categories. (Strong Men’s bottoms experience a plus)



  • Working knowledge of PDM / PLM and Patternmaking systems (WFX & Optitex a plus)

  • Strong Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop skills

  • Knowledge and relationships with factories a plus

  • Proficient in MS Office, Word and Excel

  • Ability to clearly & effectively communicate & collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and vendors through multiple means; verbal, written, TP’s, email, skype


Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of the position, thee employee is regularly required to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel: Travel is expected for the position; may include overnight and international.

We are a 27 year old apparel company looking for an in house designer. Programs used internally are:

Answers to questions:

Can I work from home?
NO. We have 2 full time staff artists and need a 3rd. Not looking for freelancers.

I design lots of things and my mom says I am awesome, but I have never done tees. Can I still apply?
NO! NO and NO. We want those who are experienced in apparel. Paper, web and apparel are very different animals. A wearable must convey your idea much quicker than any other medium.

I can use Word and Paint. Is that cool?
Not really cool at all. I would go as far as to say "uncool". Please see the above list for programs and have a firm grasp of some of them.

I like to really pour myself into my design and painstakingly make every aspect perfect. I designed my brothers business card in only 5 days. Am I perfect for the T-shirt world?
NO. NO. NO and NO. We are a fast paced environment printing thousands of shirts a day. Most jobs should take less than one hour to create, separate and send to film. There are those times we can spend days on a presentation to a large client, but 90% of the design needed can be wrapped up in 2 hours or less.

Will I learn anything working in there?
YES! You will get the benefit of working with, what we believe to be, 2 of the best apparel artists in America. Their award winning work has been sold all over the world to some of the biggest names in retail and industry. They are wonderful humans and will assist in preparing you for the coming storm.

What kind of stuff do you create in house?
Aside from screen printed apparel, we also embroider and number garments. We are a retail ready shop with custom Barcoding, folding, size striping and bagging for the biggest retailers. We sublimate rolls of fabric for cut and sew applications. We print banners, decals and sublimate hundreds of other items. We offer fulfillment from web based stores, create microstores for quick fundraising and have added vehicle wraps, to our ever expanding product offering.

Will customers ever ask for changes to my incredible designs?
YES. As might the owner and the salespeople before the customer ever sees it. You need thick skin and an ability to adapt. Not everyone will love every creation like your mom does.

Will I be given the opportunity to design high volume pieces that will be sold and worn all over the world?
Yes.

Will I be sipping latte's and pushing my pen on my Wacom all year?
NO. We may require all hands on deck during certain times. Filling orders, catching shirts, folding, etc. etc. We feel it's important for our designers to spend some time on the shop floor learning how artist errors can kill production. Once you see what the production crew goes through to put your masterpiece on cotton you will be more apt to reduce art issues.

Should I send you an email asking for more info about the job?
NO.

​Should I put together a portfolio of my apparel designs and include it with my resume'?
Yes.

Should I live within 20ish miles of the Knoxville/McGee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, TN?
Yes.

Do I need a fancy art degree from a fancy school?
Nope. Although our current artists do we do not require it. Talent is talent.

When can I start?
Now.

We are a low drama work place. We have very little turnover and compared to industry standards, we have NO turnover. Please bring a fun, joyful and hard working spirit with you.
