General Summary

Your primary mission in this position would be to empower our current staff to perform to the best of their abilities and reach their maximum potential. Essentially you'd be a coach to them. Good coaches change the game, but great coaches change a life. You would lead our team of 9 walkers and engage with our 150+ clients while working directly with the owner and business manager to ensure the company runs smoothly. You’d be a part of our management triad. It is our primary focus to find someone with the skills for this position who believes in that line.

 

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Walk with each member of the staff in consistent rotations.

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION, JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1+ years management or asst management experience with progressively more responsibility managing multi-person teams.

  • High School Graduate or GED, Bachelors preferred.

  • 1+ years owning or handling dogs.

  • Must live in San Francisco, no Bay Bridge commuters.

  • Must own a SUV/van/wagon/truck with bed-cover. No exception, unless you buy one.

  • Must be able to pet sit in your home.

Animal Caretakers are responsible for the day-to-day care of patients and boarders. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well being of dogs, cats and, occasionally, other companion animals. Animal Caretakers must be able to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, administer medications, and monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. Animal Caretakers must possess the willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized pets.   • Know the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats.

Working Conditions


  • Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed, and be able to lift, push and pull, pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, handle repetitive up-and-down or back-and-forth motions, and work while bending. Assist in lifting patients weighing more than 50 pounds.


  • Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:


Provide loving care to all adoptable animals including feeding, grooming, cleaning and exercise. Learn dog/cat breed characteristics and have the ability to educate all potential owners on animal handling and behavior. Have knowledge of all animals on premises and be able to introduce those animals to potential owners utilizing specific animal history and information. Counseling potential clients who are looking to adopt using adoption files and Center policies and procedures. Work with other adoption department staff and supervisors to ensure quality customer service and a high level of animal welfare is maintained. Clean animal housing, bedding and food/water dishes. Manage daily records for assigned animals and be able to perform basic medical procedures (administer medication, obtain fecal samples) and relay any pertinent issues to managers. Drive company vehicles with other staff and pets on board. Travel out of country or out of state on a single day or multiple day trips to transport pets back to the Center. Perform temperament testing during onsite and offsite transports on all potential animals coming in and assist medical personnel during the medical testing while offsite. Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility and maintain HWAC standards of excellence. Participate in Center activities and events as required. (Surf Dog competition, Puppy Love 5K run, Home for the Holidays, etc.) Complete all assigned tasks while representing HWAC standards of professionalism. Drive company vehicles with other staff and pets on board. Travel out of country or out of state on a single day or multiple day trips to transport pets back to the Center.


In addition to the duties listed above, the Center expects the following of each employee: adheres to HWAC policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; acts as a role model within and outside the Center; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position; meets department productivity standards; participates in HWAC events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIAN:


Must be at least 21 years of age. Some animal handling experience preferred. Dog and cat familiarity highly desirable. Must possess professionalism, courtesy, tact, and sound judgment. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to details highly desirable. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Able to work in both a team, as well as a self-directed environment. Able to properly handle, exercise and control large, and/or difficult dogs and cats. Able to safely lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work closely with animal dander/hair.


As this position requires driving duties, employee must possess a valid Driver's License and must have a clean driving record. Must complete a Driver Information Form and provide recent DMV Driving Record Report to be kept on file.

If selected for this job, you'll be responsible for upholding our high biosecurity and animal welfare standards. As an Animal Care Technician Wean to Finish, you'll receive training to provide outstanding animal care and handling and maintain pig herd health and vaccination programs across multiple sites. In addition, you'll be responsible to care for growing pigs, maintain required wean to finish records, and assist in animal movements and feed ordering.


PAY AND BENEFITS


This Animal Care Technician Wean to Finish position starts at $15.60/hr. WORK SCHEDULE


Although hours may vary, the typical work schedule for an Animal Care Technician Wean to Finish position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am 3:30 pm and every other weekend. When you work the weekend, you will have a scheduled day off during the week. Depending on the pig load schedule, you may be required to start earlier or stay later. This full-time job averages 43-45 hours a week.

Asan Animal Care Technician in Christensen Farms Sow System, you'll be a member of one of the nation's top producing teams. Every day you'll be a part of providing quality pork to help feed a growing world and doing hands on work that makes a difference for the pig herd and your team.


If selected for this job, you'll be responsible for upholding our high biosecurity and animal welfare standards. As an Animal Care Technician, you'll receive training to provide outstanding animal care and handling and maintain pig herd health and vaccination programs. In addition, you'll learn how to perform artificial insemination, attend to farrowing sows, care for growing pigs and maintain required sow records.


PAY AND BENEFITS


This Animal Care Technician position starts at $15.60/hr. WORK SCHEDULE


Although hours may vary, the typical work schedule for an Animal Care Technician position is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am - 3:30 pm with a rotating weekend. When you work the weekend, you will have a scheduled day off during the week. This full-time job averages 43-45 hours a week.

Cashier


  • Processing neighbors purchases with trustworthy accuracy and efficiency.


  • Providing Preferred Pet Club membership information to ensure neighbors dont miss any outstanding offers.


Stocker


  • Safely unloading our delivery trucks using the proper equipment.


  • Stocking shelves to ensure Fido always gets his favorite chew toy and treats.


  • Carrying bags of kibble, cat litter, aquariums and other purchases out to neighbors cars.


Pet Care


  • Providing care for pets in our store, which may include cleaning habitats, feeding and handling the animals.


  • Answering neighbors questions on animal care to help them find or maintain the perfect pet.


The Store Team Member position can be physically demanding, requiring heavy lifting (40-65 lbs.) and standing for long periods of time. We support learning through our interactive Pet Degree pay-for-knowledge programs. PAWsome Store Team Member candidates will:


  • Support each other by acting as back-up when extra help is needed.


  • Be knowledgeable about animals and our products in order to provide outstanding neighborly service.


  • Be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays.


  • Candidates must pass a drug screening (in applicable states) and be 16 years or older.

Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Animal Care Technician 1 to join our team in our Germantown, NY location. 


The Animal Care Technician 1 will be responsible for providing general support to animal care technicians in a barrier by completing tasks related to supply import, export, general barrier cleaning and basic animal husbandry. While in this role you will be expected to transition into a 13-week training program within the first 3 months of employment and once complete, will be an official Animal Care Technician!


Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:



  • Ensuring high standards of animal welfare are met.

  • Reporting inhumane treatment regarding animal care, use or abuse.

  • Placing animals in clean cages; supply feed, water and house according to SOP.

  • Monitoring temperature and humidity and report problems to appropriate person.

  • Maintaining cleanliness of area.

  • Documenting work performed according to SOP’s.

  • Following procedure for dress and/or required showering.

  • Following procedures to maintain health status of designated area.

  • Taking samples for quality control.

  • Ordering supplies, loading and unloading containers or supply cylinders.

  • Escalating issues to others as necessary.

  • Regular physical exertion is required such as climbing, crouching, crawling, and/or lifting items up to 50 pounds. 


Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma, GED, or related life experience

  • At least six months work experience

  • Experience with animals is a plus!

  • Attention to detail and organization skill

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Basic computer and math skills required
