Academic counselors report to the Director of Counseling and the Dean of Studies.

Scope of responsibilities:

1. Advises a full complement of students

2. Works with students on 4-yr. academic plans that prepare them to be college-ready (including course selection, long-term academic planning, and college selection)

3. Addresses student social, personal and academic concerns

4. Participates in College Fairs, Junior Class College Night, Orientation programs and parent education opportunities

5. Assists and coordinates college admission visits

6. Directs and participates in class level academic information nights

Qualifications, credentials, experience, knowledge & skills for the position:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree preferred

2. High school counseling experience, preferred

3. Practicing Catholic in good standing, preferred

4. Intellectually curious and willing to grow professionally

5. Desire to share his/her faith journey

6. Student focused and lifelong learner

7. Counseling credential, preferred

8. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students and staff

9. Excellent communication skills and eagerness to work as a collaborative team member is essential

10. Maintains best professional practices in communicating with peers, students and parents

11. Strong applicants will have a minimum of five years' experience in college or university admissions and/or collge counseling background at a high school.

Salary and benefits are according to a Union contract.

The Cross Cultural Family Center operates 13 child development centers in San Francisco that serve families with infants and toddlers, preschoolers, and afterschool children. Our centers are located throughout San Francisco in the Tenderloin, Western Addition, Hayes Valley, Potrero Hill, Richmond, and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods. Diverse cultures and languages among staff and families are celebrated in our programs and highly influence learning environments and teaching strategies. Programs provide both part day and full day child development and care. Cross Cultural Family Center is seeking an well qualified and experienced admissions and enrollment manager to oversee client enrollment and maintenance of records for over 400 families.

Position Overview:

The Enrollment Manager oversees all phases of enrollment services for the Cross Cultural Family Center. She or he is responsible to maintain appropriate levels of enrollment at the CCFC Centers, based on capacity criterion that is determined for each center. The Enrollment Manager supervises the work of Enrollment Specialists and ensures that children accepted into CCFC programs meet all necessary eligibility requirements. The enrollment manager is further responsible to organize and maintain certification records and files for all children and ensures that accurate and current information is readily available for program planning and reporting purposes.

Primary Responsibilities:


  1. Supervise enrollment specialist • collection of enrollment documents • contacts with applicant families • eligibility certification protocols • maintenance of files at each center • on-going maintenance with documents that support changes in eligibility and/or services • maintain waitlists

  2. Ensure full (95%, plus) enrollment based on criterion associated with each center • Communicate regularly with center supervisors and managers regarding attendance changes that may affect enrollment status of children • Ensure that waitlists are maintained and updated regularly by enrollment specialists

  3. Manage the screening and certification process and ensure timely interactions between enrollment specialist and applicant families

  4. Be aware of and keep abreast of policies and guidelines that regulate enrollment procedures and requirements

  5. Ensure accurate data collection and enter and maintain enrollment data in the family file system

  6. Provide training and support to center supervisors and head teachers regarding pre-entry activities, such as initial site visits, family orientation, review and acknowledgement of child health and nutrition needs

  7. Actively participate in program management and administrative team meetings

  8. Consult regularly with the Executive Director, and take proactive measures to address concerns when they arise

  9. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and legal requirements

  10. Work cooperatively with administrative and management team members to foster a positive climate that support excellence

Qualifications/ Competencies:

• BA Degree in health, social welfare, education, or similar field

• Four years + experience in school admissions, childcare enrollment, or client records

• Experience with California Department of Education, Early Care and Education regulations

• Experience with low-income and culturally diverse families

• Proficient in computer programs/ databases

• Experience in supervision of the work of others

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Time management, detail-oriented, and accuracy in paperwork, a must

• Knowledge of San Francisco neighborhoods, and demographics, a plus

• Bilingual: Cantonese/ English, Spanish/ English, Arabic/English, a plus

• Ability to relate positively and effectively with people of varied academic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds with kindness, courtesy, and professionalism.

Other Requirements:

• Access to a dependable car with legally required insurance coverage

• Current California Driver’s License

Position Overview

The KIPP Through College (KTC) Director of College Counseling (DCC) is responsible for leading a school-based College Counseling Department. The College Counseling Department is dedicated to fostering growth in student’s academic knowledge, interpersonal skills, college & career readiness skills and character. It is the ultimate goal of the College Counseling Department to ensure that each graduate is prepared to choose their post-high school pathway to career success. For many, college is the pathway but it may also include enlisting in the military, a trade or vocational program, etc.

The Director of College Counseling is responsible for building relationships with the school leadership team, KIPP Through College leadership team, KIPP Foundation, national organizations and college/universities that will lead to resources for students. Finally, the Director of College Counseling is charged with keeping the college counseling program woven into all aspects of their school and to ensure that the program does not work in isolation from the school’s mission.

The DCC leads the College Counseling Department in classroom instruction, college advising, and the college match process. The team is responsible for meeting high expectations for student college application and acceptance goals, as well as ensuring FAFSA/CADAA completion. The DCC also serves as the primary liaison between their school and the KTC Team.

Reporting to the Associate Director of College Counseling and the School Leader, the DCC will work out of a specific school. The DCC will demonstrate flexibility and willingness to contribute when necessary on projects outside of the KTC department.
