Summary: Creates optimized VR ready 3D game art for desktop and mobile instructional media applications created with the Unity game engine. Creates textures and materials for use in a game art pipeline. Creates technically accurate animations depicting maintenance, operation, or inspection procedures. Assists with development of storyboards and development of 2D graphics as required. This position will have an emphasis in performance optimization techniques.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • · Creates optimized 3D game art models for the Unity game engine, i.e. structures, characters, props, tools, vehicles, environment, etc.

  • · Creates 2D assets as needed, i.e. UI elements, textures, logos, dialog, signs, etc.

  • · Modifies existing art assets to meet performance standards based on platform

  • · Modifies third-party assets so they become usable in training modules

  • · Collaborates with designers and other artist to ensure requirements are being met and delivered on time

  • · Creates game ready textures and materials including baking high resolution models down to game ready assets with normal maps using PBR for desktop and traditional texture pipelines for mobile.

  • · Exports and combines 3D model meshes for performance optimizations

  • · Sets up or modifies character rigs for animations

  • · Creates and edits animations for humanoid and generic rigs

  • · Creates prototype art assets when required by designers

  • · Creates basic graphics design elements relating to client branding within products (not a graphics designer for the company)

  • · Conducts research on performance optimizations relating to asset creation

  • · Uses Unity Engine to test 3D asset and animation exports

  • · Sets up environments within Unity for level design needs

  • · 2 + years of experience creating high detail industrial/mechanical models using Autodesk 3DS Max and/or MAYA and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)

Skills Required:

  • · Experience creating game ready art assets for commercial and industrial objects (i.e. warehouses, tools, heavy equipment, office space, furniture

  • · Experience with making objects photo realistic by manipulating light, color and photo transparency in a game art pipeline

  • · Full understanding of game art workflows and pipelines

  • · Intermediate to expert knowledge of Maya or 3DS Max

  • · Intermediate knowledge of 2D asset creation tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar

  • · Intermediate knowledge of the Unity game engine and how to import, test, modify, and export packages within the editor and handling art assets

  • · Intermediate knowledge of Unity’s Mechanim system and how to properly import and test animations

  • · Strong creative skills relating to art and concept design

Foodservice equipment and furnishings designer and 3D artist. Ability to design and layout commercial kitchens, dining rooms, lounges, food courts, concession stands, food trucks and trailers, and custom fabricated equipment. Strong ability to work in AutoCAD, StudioMax, Photoshop and other 3D rendering programs. Excellent design skills, ability to meet project budgets and meet deadlines a must.
