Job Description

Corso is looking for a Sous Chef. Must have a strong work ethic, drive to excel, grace under pressure and a positive attitude and passion for cooking. Candidate must have at least two years experience working a busy, high quality restaurant. Experience with Italian food is a plus.

We offer competitive pay, and the position includes Silver level Kaiser Health Care, a week's paid vacation and dining allowances. Position is open, but we would need you two to three week’s prior for training.

Corso is a Florentine inspired restaurant on Shattuck Avenue near Downtown Berkeley, BART and the Gourmet Ghetto. The San Francisco Chronicle awarded us Top 10 Best New Restaurants 2008 and Top 100 Best Restaurants 2008 and 2009. We also were Runner Up in Diablo Magazine's Best Restaurants 2009.

Chef de Cuisine Louis Le Gassic came up the ranks at Oliveto and was Chef de Cuisine at Bay Wolf for 8 years. Chef LeGassic makes all salumi and pasta in house but this will fall under the Sous Chef's purview. Executive Chef/Owner Wendy Brucker has worked in many of the top restaurants in the Bay Area and has been Chef/Owner of Rivoli Restaurant for 25 years. She was named a Rising Star Chef in 1993 and has been featured in all the local and national food magazines.

Corso offers competitive pay in a positive environment, but our goal is to have a place where our employees look forward to coming to work. If you’re looking for a place where your boss isn’t screaming at you and where your co-workers work as a team, Corso is the place for you.

Email the server listed, it’s great if you can copy your resume into the body of the email rather than attach. We will call suitable candidates to interview.
