Building Blocks creates a secure, active and educational environment, in a large country setting where children enjoy learning. We offer daily routines for each age group centered on developmentally appropriate activities to encourage learning. Preschoolers are most responsive to activities in which they are involved in using “hands on” materials. Our highly qualified teachers accept that and design their classroom spaces with “learning stations” where children develop confidence and a strong curiosity for learning. Our creative staff rotates and adds materials frequently to extend the child’s interest. Often teachers create their own games and materials if commercial ones do not offer the challenge needed, or do not reflect the interests of the children. Young children learn best when trained teachers build on the interests and abilities of the children. This reflects the currently recognized theory that encourages, child-centered activities guided by an adult with a solid child development base and strong problem-solving skills. In addition our program allows parents to truly become partners with the professional staff. Information or discoveries about the child’s development are mutually shared, resulting in a program tailored to the individual child.
The preschool curriculum includes activities centering on communication, science, math, social studies, music, art and motor development. Our enriching program includes dramatic play opportunities which reinforce the learning of practical life experiences. Opportunities to participate in Gym, dance, Spanish and music
