The KIPP Through College (KTC) Director of College Counseling (DCC) is responsible for leading a school-based College Counseling Department. The College Counseling Department is dedicated to fostering growth in student’s academic knowledge, interpersonal skills, college & career readiness skills and character. It is the ultimate goal of the College Counseling Department to ensure that each graduate is prepared to choose their post-high school pathway to career success. For many, college is the pathway but it may also include enlisting in the military, a trade or vocational program, etc.
The Director of College Counseling is responsible for building relationships with the school leadership team, KIPP Through College leadership team, KIPP Foundation, national organizations and college/universities that will lead to resources for students. Finally, the Director of College Counseling is charged with keeping the college counseling program woven into all aspects of their school and to ensure that the program does not work in isolation from the school’s mission.
The DCC leads the College Counseling Department in classroom instruction, college advising, and the college match process. The team is responsible for meeting high expectations for student college application and acceptance goals, as well as ensuring FAFSA/CADAA completion. The DCC also serves as the primary liaison between their school and the KTC Team.
Reporting to the Associate Director of College Counseling and the School Leader, the DCC will work out of a specific school. The DCC will demonstrate flexibility and willingness to contribute when necessary on projects outside of the KTC department.
