We are looking for a Pantry Cook to join our kitchen staff .Responsibilities include preparing various hors d’oeuvres, properly seasoning all appetizers before they are served and storing food items, as needed. To be successful in this role, you should be able to handle the kitchen’s fast-paced working environment, be familiar with food hygiene and be available to work during evenings and weekends. Ultimately, you will contribute to delivering a pleasant dining experience for our guests.
Make cold appetizers, including salads, vegetable and meat egg rolls
Prep cook every Monday,
Garnish dishes with spices, nuts, fruit and vegetables
Prepare vinaigrettes, dips and herb-infused oils
Perform meal-prep activities before guests arrive (like chopping vegetables, cutting fish and meat and washing fruits)
Store ingredients to keep them fresh and reduce food wastage
Check food plating, temperature and portions for all cold dishes
Sterilize kitchen equipment at the end of your shift
Monitor stock and place orders, as needed
Recommend modern recipes to renew our menu and add nutritious, creative cold dishes
Maintain a clean station at all times
Work experience as a Pantry Cook, Prep Cook or similar role
Hands-on experience with professional kitchen equipment
Good knowledge of food plating techniques
Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Availability to work in shifts, including evenings and weekends
A degree from a culinary school is a plus
The La Gondola restaurant continues to set the standard for cuisine, service & style in the kosher gastronomical world. When we open our doors in June of 1992, it became an instant success and culinary phenomenon. We were the first kosher restaurant in los angels to open its doors in a very busy business area and not in the “hood”. Our signature dishes, from appetizers and entrees like our bbq Beef ribs and chai steak put us on the kosher food map internationally, and our national clients, until today will order our great food to be shipped nationwide.
Over the span of 2 decades our menu has changed with our customers. From a very traditional Northern Italian menu, over the years we introduced California, Asian, Mediterranean cuisine to our menu and the latest, sushi. As clients were eating less carbohydrates and more protein we changed our menu. From a limited wine menu to a wine list of over 30-40 wines from around the world. A fully stocked bar of the best spirits, liquors & digestives.
Besides just serving our great food in the restaurant, La Gondola has been serving clients at their most intimate events from weddings, bar/bat-mitzvahs, conventions, and banquets even longer. Our clients have either used one of our favorite or exclusive venues or have taken us to their favorite venue. Weather it was locally here in southern California or even at far out as lass Vegas, San Francisco, Arizona or anywhere in between. If you are the host or coordinator of the event, stress should not be part of the equation but a great memory for you and your guests. Even more, your event should be a reflection of you or your company, from when the first guest arrives until the last one departs. Our goal is only to satisfy the desires of our hosts & your guests.
