OB TITLE: Instructor / Direct Support Professional - Newark, CA - Job Coach

REPORTS TO: Service Manager

STATUS: Full-time

FLSA: Non-Exempt, $16.50 hourly rate

WORK HOURS: 32.50 to 40.00 hrs./week


We have partnered with the largest online retailer at one of their Fulfillment Center in Newark, CA. The DSP – Job Coach is responsible for providing onsite support for employed participants and serves as the main point of contact for employer partners.


  • Train and support individuals with disabilities at work ensuring the individual meets the expectations of their role and builds independence over time
  • Provide training and support with barriers that may impact job readiness and performance including: professional communication, time management, travel training, money management, and other supports needed for employment success
  • Provide instruction and support regarding reasonable accommodation, employee rights and self-advocacy
  • Serve as main point of contact for employer partner and maintain positive business relationships with employers to ensure ongoing satisfaction of The Arc’s services
  • Provide training as needed to employer partners on learning styles, communication best practice and reasonable accommodations as needed
  • Perform quality control inspections of work sites as needed
  • Meet with employer partners and participant as needed to ensure that expectations of the job are being met and explore opportunities for growth or advancement
  • Complete all monthly billing as required
  • Monitor client progress in case notes and complete all other required paperwork
  • Complete Special Incident Reports as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences and trainings as required
  • Comply with current agency performance standards
  • Serve as an ambassador of the organization to employer partners, visitors and the community as needed
  • Maintain a professional attitude, working cooperatively with staff, clients and members of the community
  • Maintain confidentiality of client/staff information as required by law and agency policy
  • Treat clients and co-workers with dignity and respect
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


  • At least one years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer using Microsoft “Word” software to produce/send documents.
  • Valid CA drivers’ license and clean driving record


Repetitive key board use, phone use, walking, standing, bending stooping and direct client interaction.
