Job Description

SBTC is a non-profit organization.  We help schools and other non-profits succeed in their missions by fixing and improving their IT.

Which means we do good work, for good people, that helps the communities we live in.  We look and sound like a Managed Service Provider (MSP) most of the time, except that there's no selling or 'upsell' in anything we do.  It's just you and  the rest of our team, fixing/improving the tech, so our clients can do their own good work more efficiently and effectively.  It's kind of awesome.

This position requires some experience.  You should be ready to jump in to solve technical problems.  You should know how to troubleshoot a corrupted user profile, how to recognize and troubleshoot self-assigned DHCP addresses, how to install and manage network printers, etc.  If you're not sure about your experience, ask.  We don't require specific credentials, but if you've got an A+ and a Network+ or CCNA, you're in solid shape.

These positions are around northern Lake County.  Ideally, you're calling McHenry, Lakemoor, Volo, Round Lake, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Wauconda, Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, Mundelein, Libertyville, or similar town as your starting point.

  • 2 or more years in a technical support role, working with customer/client end-users
  • Experience in a ticket-based support environment, and using tickets, follow-ups, and other functions of a web-based service desk systems
  • Ability to work with technical personnel and vendors in a technical capacity
  • Strong, demonstrated ability to work with non-technical personnel and clients in a support capacity
  • Excellent documentation habits

Desireable Characteristics

  • Broad IT experience is desireable.  Many of our environments are mixed / cross platform.
  • Experience with customer service
  • Self-directed ability to pursue and complete milestones
