Rick's Welding and Fabrication is looking for some versatile and skilled employees for its upcoming operations in the future. We have always been a "job shop" which means we fabricate anything and everything that's made of metal. We do anything from high volume production jobs that could take 2-3 months, as well as walk-ins that could be anywhere from a 30 min to 1 day job+.
***NOW HOWEVER, AFTER OVER 4 DECADES IN BUSINESS, TIMES HAVE BEEN SLOW SO WE ARE GOING TO BEGIN OFFERING NEW AND EXCITING SERVICES THAT ARE ALREADY BEING IMPLEMENTED AS WE SPEAK. (WE ARE NOT JUST STRICTLY LOOKING FOR WELDERS AT ALL)
We are a 95% TIG shop SO THE TEST WILL INCLUDE TIGGING 1/16th thick ALUMINUM. PLEASE DON'T WASTE MY TIME OR YOURS IF YOU DON'T HAVE PROFICIENT SKILLS AND HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THEM. We also do MIG mild steel but not that often as most of our welding is done with TIG.
************HOWEVER, as of now, we are looking for a little of everything employee wise*****************
1.) We need a very proficient Tig welder with experience in a welding/manufacturing setting of at least a few years and knows his way around a shop. Here you will be responsible for jobs that customers bring in; from talking to the walk-in customer to figuring out the job entirely in order to give a good quote, while handling a crew of 2-4 guys on other current jobs. ***JOB FILLED***
IF you are certified, or willing to do so (on your own), you will be able to help teach our 4 hour classes that will be held 1-2 times per week once they get going again. It includes 45 mins - 1 hour in our classroom going over safety and absolute basics. Then, the next 3 hours you get to have a hands on experience in our fully set up shop environment (Here, You can make GREAT money as an employee).
We are also going to be introducing a new service, similar to a makerspace or hackerspace etc. With customers who want to get hours in practicing their welding, another task of yours would be to supervise these customers. You won't be teaching them here, but just making sure everyone is happy and everything is running smoothly/safely.
HOWEVER, we will also be offering private lessons where you can make VERY good money too (mainly TIG).
2) Welders/Fabricators that are able to Tig weld proficiently, read blueprints, and have the ability to follow directions of their higher ups so the whole team can complete the job smoothly and within certain time frames. They must also have a desire to learn since there is a lot to learn at this shop and how it operates.
3) Students who are currently enrolled in a welding program who are looking for real on-the-job experience. Starting as an internship shadowing and helping current employees and, depending on skill, moving to a paid position where you will utilize the skills you've learned. THIS WILL MAKE YOUR RESUME STAND OUT ABOVE OTHERS IF YOU DECIDE TO APPLY FOR A DIFFERENT JOB AFTER. (WE GIVE GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS ALSO)
4) Possible PR employee that has experience and knowledge in the welding/fabricating industry which would include talking to potential customers (on phone or in person), drawing up quotes (over the phone and in person), and most importantly, constantly searching for new companies to sign work contracts with. Office work would also be required. The more you can take care of, higher the salary really. You would also make a percentage of jobs you bring into the shop.
BOTTOM LINE - YOU MUST BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT JOBS ON YOUR OWN AND WITHOUT THE NEED FOR HAND HOLDING AFTER GIVEN THE DIRECTIONS (the first few weeks/months not so much). HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A JOB ALWAYS MAKE 100% SURE FIRST.
PROFICIENCY IN ANY OTHER SKILL, SUCH AS ELECTRICAL, MACHINE MAINTENANCE, EVEN AUTO WORK/MAINTENANCE WOULD BE A BENEFICIAL SKILL AS WELL.
So, as you can see we have a lot of spots open for hard-working employees that share the same vision with the company. Really, it's a 46 year established Custom Fabrication and Welding shop that I am looking to breath life back into. Slowly but surely we are getting busier and busier. With the right employees, this shop would be very profitable for US ALL. Family owned and operated since day 1.
Long story short, my father began this business over 44 years ago and after a decade and a half long battle with 3 different types of cancers, God has finally brought him up to rest about a year ago now. With my father in the office taking care of quotes, financials, calls, walk in's, and everything else, I was able to focus on just running the shop, which worked out really well. However, now I am having to do everything that he did AND my previous job duties (pretty much everything) in a 6000sq ft shop on a 10,000sq ft lot.
Needless to say, help is needed, and not solely welders. Experienced welders with other usable proficiencies will be chosen over less experienced applicants.
Amazing chance for the right select few employees.
Call or email with any questions.
Pay DOE and talents that are usable in the shop.
***UPDATE FROM THE PAST 6 MONTHS***
NOW WE ARE A THREE MAN TEAM TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING. WORK HAS BEEN PICKING UP QUICK AND NOW WE ARE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER EMPLOYEE THAT IS PROFICIENT IN TIG WELDING (WE TIG EVERYTHING...FROM STAINLESS AND ALUMINUM TO TITANIUM AND INCONEL). THIS NEW EMPLOYEE MUST ALREADY HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE IN A SHOP SETTING OR AT LEAST CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN WELDING COURSES AT SCHOOL. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY NEED TO HAVE A PASSION TO LEARN NEW THINGS AND AN EXCELLENT WORK ETHIC. WE ALSO WORK SOME WEEKENDS AND SOME LONGER DAYS WHEN JOBS ARE DUE.
HUGE room for growth. I'm really looking for professional employees that take initiative and don't need their hand held with every job. Although if you are unsure about something, ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK FIRST. Perfect opportunity for the right applicant
