Castro Valley Adult & Career Education is seeking a full-time approximately 26 hour per week Adult Secondary Education instructor.
Tuesday through Thursday (late afternoons/evenings) and Saturday morning
-Prepare lesson plans and deliver direct and computer-based instruction for High School Diploma, Adult Basic Education, and GED Test Preparation classes
-Employ effective, research-based teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual learners
-Implement formative and summative assessments
-Develop and maintain a supportive and engaging environment for learning
-Conduct transcript reviews for incoming students
-Other school-wide and department projects as assigned
-Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
-Multiple or Single Subject K-12 Teaching Credential or Designated Subjects Adult Education Credential with appropriate subject authorization issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (or be eligible and willing to apply)
-Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills; collaborative and collegial
-Comfortable with using and supporting students with technology (including Google apps)
-Knowledge of research-based instructional pedagogy
-Be flexible, committed to equity and student success, and able to maintain a patient and respectful rapport with students
Start Date: Monday, August 12, 2019 (partial hours) with full schedule on Monday, August 26.
