Job Description

Athletic Club Office Receptionist

Salary Range: $15.25+; 20 hours a week minimum

The AVAC Tennis Office is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and customer service oriented individual. A successful candidate for this role will have a strong sense of AVACs customer service policies, and be well trained in the Tennis Department knowledge that can be critical for offering quick and accurate assistance to customer. No prior knowledge of tennis required.

All AVAC Staff…

  • Engages and demonstrates a high level of customer care/service with every member and guest. We create relationships with our members.
  • Assists in providing a clean and safe environment for our members and guests
  • Resolves controversy and stays objective and fair despite disagreement.
  • Does not engage in inappropriate conversations while at AVAC.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and behavior during interactions with members and guests, fellow employees, and management.
  • Helps maintain the entire facility at the highest levels of cleanliness and tidiness, constantly being aware of club appearance

Tennis Office Staff…

  • Welcomes all members and guests in a warm, courteous and professional manner, whether in person or over the telephone. Addresses all members by their proper name and builds rapport with each. Obtains appropriate identification from all members.
  • Checks members in for Courts/Clinics/Lessons/
  • Is knowledgeable about Tennis activities and services in order to respond to member and guest questions. Answers members’ questions honestly and credibly. Actively promotes Tennis activities and Pro Shop.
  • Answers phones in a timely manner with an appropriate greeting.
  • Shows initiative in the performance of their shift responsibilities
  • Attends and contributes at all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Processes payments
  • Data entry
  • Arrives at AVAC ready to begin their shift at the appropriate time, complying with AVAC uniform and dress code. Follows appropriate guidelines for breaks.
  • Can be counted on to fulfill all of their committed shifts and supports co-workers by substituting for shifts as available..
  • Reports directly to Tennis Director and Tennis Office Supervisor
  • Appropriately, privately and professionally communicates to the Tennis Director or Tennis Office Supervisor any concerns that are beyond the scope of their responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional, outgoing, energetic, self-motivated and personable
  • Able to multitask
  • Work with minimal supervision at times
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc)
  • Must be available to work nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A  minimum of 8 hours per week is required to work here, as well as  weekend availability, attendance at regularly scheduled meetings and  trainings, and a perpetually up-to-date CPR/AED certificate.   Specialized positions such as lifeguards, fitness coaches, swim/tennis  teachers and child care require further certifications and background  checks.
