Our Story

We started Lemon Poppy Kitchen as a place to escape the high overhead costs of working out of a commissary kitchen. Katie Kildow’s jam company, From the Robin’s Nest, and Anca Caliman’s “Anca’s Romanian” joined forces in splitting the rent on a recently vacated panaderia in Glassell Park. Initially with just a counter and a few tables out front to attract passing laundromat customers, word soon spread that a new place in the neighborhood was offering a tiny menu of eggs on flatbreads, toast topped with delicious jam, and fine coffees.

The three of us are foodies who saw a chance to dream a little bigger and share with the neighborhood our love of fresh, uniquely inspired dishes and great tea and coffee. Nearly five years later we extend our deepest thanks to all of you who have supported over the years, and helped us grow into a bustling little breakfast spot hidden away in a strip-mall. We love all of you as much as we love feeding you.
