Built in 1890, The Madison Street Inn is over 100 years old! Extensive remodeling was completed in the 1980's by the original owners, Tess and Ralph, to turn their historic Queen Anne Victorian family home into a comfortable and unique family-run Bed & Breakfast. As was typical during the Victorian period in America, the house was built with many small yet comfortable rooms, each serving a particular purpose. When converting the house to a B&B in the 1980's, the original kitchen was transformed into a bedroom, and the bedroom closets in two of our rooms were converted into cozy private bathrooms and showers. The entire house was elevated to open up space for a finished basement, which created enough room for a full commercial kitchen and two additional private guest rooms.
Each of our uniquely furnished rooms features a queen or full-sized bed, fluffy towels, full-sized luxury toiletries, an antique armoire and/or dresser to hold your clothing, and can sleep up to two people.
Most of our rooms have their own en-suite bathroom, although, two of our rooms -- the Fremont and the Jefferson rooms--do share a beautiful bathroom with a bear claw tub and shower.
Our downstairs Roosevelt Suite has its own private entrance, features a king-sized bed, and is designed to comfortably accommodate up to four people. However, upon request, it can be transformed to hold up to six guests via a small-attached sleeping space (additional fees apply). Please inquire for details and availability.
A healthy homemade breakfast is provided daily to all of our guests and is included in all room rates. We strive to use locally-sourced ingredients and organic produce whenever possible, often using fruits and produce purchased at our local farmer's market. Breakfast is held between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on weekends. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking.
Complimentary water, tea, and coffee are always available in our dining room and don't forget to treat yourself to home-made, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and port in our parlor.
If you are traveling to Santa Clara with others and space and privacy is important to you, we highly recommend that you consider booking individual rooms or that you consider our larger Roosevelt Suite for maximum comfort. We offer a 10% discount on multi-room bookings for groups traveling together.
