DVMS was founded in 1965 as a non-profit, non-discriminatory organization with a parent Board of Directors. With a present enrollment of over 150 children, DVMS continues to look for ways to integrate parents, children and the community to form a unique and fulfilling experience for all involved. From its movement, outdoor classrooms and extracurricular programs including dance, music, soccer, creative dramatics, Spanish and Mandarin to its “Meet the community” field trips and school events, DVMS has been successful in its approach for over 45 years.
For most of its history, DVMS has been affiliated with the American Montessori Society (“AMS”), and has received that organization’s highest accolades. During its most recent evaluation, AMS reported that DVMS “exhibited excellence in teaching staff, parent participation and an emphasis on maintaining that excellence.”
DVMS is a partnership of its teaching staff, parents and administration, and strives to provide the highest quality Montessori education for all children enrolled by supporting the development of a professional, skilled and nurturing staff and encouraging the involvement and participation of its families.
