Lisa Harp founded the Harp Learning Institute in 2000 after helping her own son overcome dyslexia, ADD, and auditory processing problems. Although she was a credentialed teacher, she had few resources to help him at the time. By using extensive research and practical application with her son, he became an honor student within a year! Thousands of students have followed his path to become not only honor students but happy, well-adjusted students.
Lisa has been a certified teacher for over 30 years. She holds degrees in both English and Education as well as certificates in Brain Integration Therapy from Rebecca Kennard's Brain Transformations (Original Brain Integration Methods from Dianne Craft, MA, CNHP), Accuspark with Brain Integration, CLAD (English Language Development), Kyrene Elementary District Reading Instruction Certificate, Advanced Peer Coaching as well as extensive training in vision therapy.
Our approach is different than most learning centers. We treat the student as a "whole". We start with a basic evaluation and then customize the Harp Learning System specifically for each student's needs. We start all students with basic body/brain connection as well as gross motor skills. If the student is strong in these areas, the multitude of assessments that are prescribed will allow the student to move through the program according to the student's needs, not just a large dose of academics.
At the Harp Learning Institute, we understand that each student is unique and that needs are different. The Harp Learning System teaches to skills mastery. If a student is not ready to advance from a specific skill, then he/she continues practicing that skill until ready.
In addition, we believe that learning should be fun! We love to see our students smiling and having fun. Our integrated game system allows students to play academic games while out of their seats and moving because we know that with movement comes learning
