Some qualities of our program at SCC that make it ideal include:
An open-door policy for current families. Parents feel very comfortable knowing their child is receiving quality care and education. When desired, any parent can visit their child at their convenience, reducing levels of anxiety about their child's well-being.
Parent involvement and engagement is strongly encouraged and has a direct impact on a child's overall health and development. Parents are more engaged with their children on a regular basis.
Breastfeeding is promoted and supported. Mothers have used their lunch break as a valuable time to nurse their children. Aside from the health benefits for the child, mothers emotionally benefit from this opportunity to bond with their child.
All locations of SCC are within 1-2 blocks of the Oakton-Skokie Yellow Line CTA which is adjacent to the vibrant Skokie Downtown. Parents can drop off and pickup their children in a matter of minutes. This simple, but powerful factor can lead to reduced stress and allows parents to arrive at their workplace in a very timely manner, ready to focus and be productive.
Resources for children with special needs. SCC's administration works closely with each child to meet their individual needs. When appropriate, SCC will collaborate with therapists and other providers to arrange services to take place in our program, therefore maximizing the effectiveness of services and minimizing disruption to the parent's workday. When necessary, SCC will coordinate referrals to other services and/or providers.
Daily physical activity and weekly creative enrichment activities for children. Beginning with children as young as toddlers, our children benefit from gross-motor activities such as structured and unstructured play, special classes like Amazing Athletes (a special outdoor sports class focusing on balance, core strength exercises, ball handling, etc.), and Yoga classes for children (focusing on listening skills, self-calming skills, flexibility, etc.), as well as music instruction from Mr. Charles Taylor (a creative enrichment that develops critical thinking and creativity).
Fresh, well-balanced meals for all children. Our program provides all meals for the children and we employ full-time food service staff for daily fresh meal preparation. In doing so, we are able to closely monitor and control the nutritional content of all meals as well as monitor the feeding patterns and needs of each child. When necessary, our staff works with families to make food substitutions and accommodations to ensure every child is provided a well-rounded meal.
Back-up Care for children of all ages. Parents can call us when other child care arrangements fall through. In the past, we have filled a need for families for as little as a day to as long as three months. Parents are able to fulfill their commitments at work, therefore reducing stress, while we provide quality care for their children.
Summer programs and holiday/vacation care for older children. We provide services for children from ages 6 weeks through 12 years. Parents can utilize our programs for summer or holiday/vacation periods when their older children are "out of school".
All areas of the schools are consistently monitored by closed camera DVR network system. From the office, the director can view all areas of your child's school on a single screen. We take our children's privacy very seriously, therefore, we do not allow any remote live viewing.
All classrooms at SCC have iPads. The iPads are used to take photos, document the children's daily activities, take notes and observations in each child's digital portfolio. Seamlessly photos are sent to a video display in the foyer of each school for parental viewing.
