The San Francisco Schoolhouse is a small, independent K-8 school located in the Richmond District of San Francisco. Our program is founded on the belief that children learn best in an environment that respects and nurtures their natural curiosity and love of learning. We believe all children are collaborative, creative and highly divergent in their thinking. Too often, formal schooling discourages these tendencies. But when learning is truly inspired by joy, students develop a deeper commitment to their own education.
The Schoolhouse is a community of families and teachers working together for the purpose of educating and growing a child. Our experienced and passionate teachers, authentic curriculum, and active parent participation provide a unique opportunity for families seeking a community-minded progressive education that challenges and supports their child. We have a vibrant Family Participation Program where each family is involved in building and supporting the school community.
Founded in 2011 by two teachers and two parents with two students, the Schoolhouse currently enrolls 70 students in grades K-6.
