Born in 1994 from the vision of Matthew Harris, who could see through the green walls and linoleum floors of the forgotten Chicago Draft house, and cultivated by the mind and back of Kevin Abercrombie, welcome to Matilda – Chicago’s most interesting corner tavern. With its main room of blonde wood, brushed aluminum, and deep booths, to the dark and celestial BackBar, to the sultry basement chic of BABYatlas, Matilda defines diversity. Weeknights abound with neighborhood folk and first dates, while the weekend fills with 20 and 30-something singles, matchmakers, and partygoers.
Though she has changed over the last 20 years (what bar doesn’t need a facelift every now and again) the goal has remained the same: to provide the best possible service, product, and environment for our guests in order to secure future support. For those we have hosted before, we anticipate your return. For those yet to come, we await the opportunity to covet another regular customer.
