Kings Mountain is a small community that sits perched along a ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains between the Half Moon Bay coast and San Francisco Peninsula. Nowadays home to many nature preserves and a scattering of lucky residents, the 60 square miles that comprise the area were historically home to lumber mills dating as far back as 1852. The lumber economy resulted in a bevy of establishments over the years, and in the late 1920s "Kings Rendezvous" was constructed in the heart of Kings Mountain.
Kings Rendezvous became one of the longest standing establishments within the community, existing as The Red Pump in the late forties to early seventies, Alex's Mountain House until the early eighties, and now as The Mountain House. Owned and operated by the same family since 1988, the Mountain House garners a diverse clientele: ranging from nature lovers enjoying a drink or snack in the bar, to those seeking a fine dining experience in a rustic country atmosphere under the redwoods.
For a memorable evening, take a scenic drive with panoramic views to a special haven with fine food in a relaxing, rural atmosphere. Sit by a warm fire or gaze into the redwoods while enjoying savory meats, wild game, poultry, and pasta. The Mountain House offers an original fusion of California and American cuisine in our historic ridge top cabin nestled amidst giant redwood trees just minutes from I-280, the Mid-Peninsula, and the Half Moon Bay coast. Enjoy your evening in an elegantly rustic, candle-lit dining room, the outdoor beauty of the forest room, or the more casual first come, first serve bar. However you choose to visit the Mountain House, we hope to make it an occasion to remember.
