The Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence is a national non-profit organization devoted to preventing the loss of lives caused by gun violence by providing trusted, in-depth information on America's gun laws. The Law Center grew out of the July 1, 1993 assault weapon massacre that began at a law firm at 101 California Street in San Francisco. For the past twenty years, the Law Center has provided legal assistance to advocates and community leaders seeking local and statewide regulatory solutions to prevent gun violence.
With a dedicated 36-member Board of Directors and a committed staff of 17, the Law Center concentrates its efforts on state and local policy reform, working with governmental entities and advocacy organizations in California and across the country.
