Join NYU Steinhardt’s innovative new teacher residency program. We call it the EMAT, or Embedded Master of Arts in Teaching. The EMAT is being offered in partnership with, Syracuse, NYC, Tucson and San Francisco schools in the 2017 - 18 school year. Earn a Master’s degree in one year, while learning to teach under the guidance of NYU’s expert faculty and the practical guidance of Teaching Mentors at your residency school. NYU’s innovative curriculum prepares you with the practical knowledge you need to be a successful teacher and deep preparation to teach ALL students, including those with disabilities and second language learners in your content area. You'll use technology tools including a video capture app and online coursework to enhance your learning. Participants receive a stipend or wage during the residency year from our school partners and many graduates will be offered full time jobs at the end of the program. Significant scholarships are available to make the EMAT affordable to all students.
