Since 1967, The Nueva School has taught gifted learners to learn by doing and learn by caring. To step into Nueva and enter a classroom is to witness a dynamic, vibrant environment where students explore and experiment. They learn to communicate and collaborate in small and large groups, as well as to demonstrate passion through individual, self-directed projects. Nueva students engage in simulations, learn to make real-world connections, monitor their own learning, and become flexible thinkers who are adept risk-takers and lifelong learners.
Students are encouraged to realize their imaginative designs by creating art, writing their own original plays, composing music, writing lyrics, investigating disappearing gingerbread men, devising original science experiments, building educational tree houses for younger students, and soldering original LED lamp designs. At Nueva, creativity occurs in mathematics -- as in art, writing, and engineering. We teach students to think about not just getting the correct answer but finding multiple ways to solve a problem.
Nueva fulfilled the school's founding vision for a preK-12 school as we welcomed our first Upper School students with the inaugural grade 9 class in 2013. During our 50th Anniversary year, we celebrated their graduation in June, 2017.
This is the realization of a long-held dream as we celebrate Nueva as three divisions, two campuses, one school. We look forward to welcoming you on campus to share this highly anticipated expansion, while we remain true to our founding mission: to inspire passion for lifelong learning, foster social and emotional acuity, and develop the student's imaginative mind.
