Our Story

A world class neighborhood cocktail bar, that has a focus on culinary and craft beverages. BWS has quickly become a staple in Temescal and North Oakland’s burgeoning food scene. We believe in friendly hospitality, food sourced from local farms, and artisanal ingredients prepared in house by Chef’s Jonathan De la Torre (Quince, Commis, Nopa) and Chris Wolff (Bar Tartine, WD-50), along with our talented staff. Our Beverage program was curated by Jason Huffman (160 Blue, Roka Akor SF, Roka Akor Chicago, Michael Jordans Stk) features a detail focus with every selection of our beverage menu. We use local seltzer for all of our house made elixirs and tonics. At BWS, we offer a unique “Buy the Bottle” program, where dedicated brown-liquor hounds can purchase a whole bottle at a reduced price to store on the bar, and enjoy on return visits. Our bar has been featured in trusted industry publications, such as Eater SF and The SF chronicle, and East Bay Express.
