About Fox and Goose Pub
For centuries pubs have been the gathering place for those seeking a pint of ale, a hot meal or a visit with old friends… in every way a true “public house”.
Located in the hometown of co-founder, Bill Dalton, the original Fox & Goose has been in operation for over two hundred years in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, a small town located near the scenic Moors of Northern England.
Sacramento’s Fox & Goose, although not nearly as old as the original, has captured the traditional qualities and added an atmosphere all its own.
The culmination of a lifetime dream, Fox & Goose is housed in what was once the Fuller Paint and Glass Company. This distinctive brick building was constructed in 1913. Work on the Fox & Goose began in January 1972, with the grand opening occurring on January 15, 1975.
Offering a tantalizing selection of the finest draught beers, most of which are from Great Britain and Ireland, fine wines and a full section of liquors, Fox & Goose remains true to its roots. The varied menu, which includes traditional English dishes along with vegetarian dishes and American food, offers something for everyone. Fox & Goose has a reputation for the “Best Breakfast” in Sacramento, winning awards in this category numerous times. In addition, Fox & Goose offers Lunch, Dinner, and Live Music five nights a week. The award-winning “Open Mic Night” on Monday evenings is a much-loved tradition which has helped launch the careers of many local musicians and “Pub Trivia Night” on Tuesday evenings remains a Sacramento community favorite.
Bill and Denise Dalton worked tirelessly for years to create Fox & Goose as we know it today. In 1995, when their daughter, Allyson Dalton, purchased the business from her parents, the tradition continued seamlessly. Her dedication to maintaining a location that provides a unique atmosphere, excellent value, great quality, and exceptional service was learned from her parents’ devotion to the same standards. In 2012, Allyson expanded Fox & Goose to include outdoor patio seating, Underground-themed restrooms, and an elegant private dining room, Chartwell, named and inspired by Sir Winston Churchill’s home in Kent, England.
In September 2015, Co-General Managers Peter Monson and Jessa Berkey purchased the business from Allyson. Peter and Jessa, partners with over 18 years combined experience at Fox & Goose, look to continue the beloved traditions in their stewardship and offers many thanks to the community who have patronized and supported Fox & Goose over the years.
