Our Story

El Tequilas is the vision of Freddy Perez, a proud Chicagoan born in Mexico City with the desire to bring the comforting aromas of his mother’s kitchen to his adopted home town of Chicago. One of eight siblings, Freddy has fond memory’s of his beloved Mother Maria Luisa turning fresh ingredients from the local mercado into meals that created the foundation of family and togetherness. Freddy, his sister Lulu and his uncle Bobby have collaborated to bring the traditions and techniques of the rich and robust recipes of Mexico City to El Tequilas.

El Tequilas is inspired by the passion of enjoying good food in good company. El Tequilas will celebrate the complexity yet simplicity of fresh ingredients and unique spices.

Mexico city is vibrant and rich in robust flavors that will inspire the menu selections. The menu will have an emphasis on utilizing the freshest ingredients available to create authentic Mexican dishes that include fresh corn tortillas, sopes, enchiladas and albondigas and most importantly love and kind hands.

El tequilas embraces the vibrant diversity of Mexico City and this will reflect in influences from Veracruz and Aculpoco. El Tequilas will be a casual fine dining restaurant. A casual atmosphere with fine food. We will feature a variety of aged tequilas along with specialty cocktails and a full bar to accommodate any cocktails or libations our guests might desire. El Tequilas hopes to be a place where our guests can share the experience of comfort and community while enjoying feeding the body and soul. “Provecho!”
