Our Story

Mijita is a Mexican kitchen infused with Bay Area flavor. Award-winning Chef Traci Des Jardins cooks the cuisine closest to her heart and from her roots.

The name Mijita is a sentimental nod to the past and Traci’s Mexican-born grandmother, Angela Salazar. She loved to spend time with Traci in the kitchen and called her the endearing, “Mijita,” meaning “Little One.”

Traci is widely regarded as one of the top female chefs in the United States. She is chef/owner of Jardinière, and chef/partner of Public House, The Commissary and Arguello.
