In 1993 Joseph Domenico Giacomini and his wife, Sue, opened Domenico's Delicatessen in downtown Danville. Joe's father, Leo, had owned a successful Bay Area Italian delicatessen business that Joe grew up in. Joe and Sue have carefully crafted Domenico's by blending traditional delicatessen favorites with a signature California twist. Fresh and flavorful, with an emphasis on lower fat.
From the beginning, their philosophy has been the same; simply to seek out the best possible ingredients and make the highest quality sandwiches. This meant hand picking product from top local purveyors. Walk into Domenico's and you can see the wide assortment of over 40 meats and 30 cheeses to choose from. All the sandwiches are made from fresh bread delivered daily from several Bay Area artisan bakeries. Add to this a variety of unique house made sandwich dressings and you have one of the largest sandwich selections in the Bay Area. Just imagine the possibilities.
In addition to the sandwich selection, Domenico's is home to over 60 original house made salads that rotate daily along with soups and hot entrees. Complete the meal with a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie and you will be hooked.
Meet up with friends at Domenico's for lunch and take a look at the assortment of gourmet foods and boutique wines lining the shelves. Joe's experience as a gourmet food and wine buyer becomes evident here where each item is carefully selected for quality and value.
In 2003, they opened Domenico's Cafe next door and modeled it after the gelaterias in Italy. The cafe menu features hand crafted pizzas, hot and cold panini sandwiches, wines by the glass, espresso and of course fabulous gelato.
