Russell Turek has taught all styles of guitar for over 15 years. He received his BM in Classical Guitar Performance , studying under Michael Chapdelaine, from the University of New Mexico. While he specializes in classical guitar and rock/blues performance, he enjoys teaching a variety of styles.
Having also studied with classical guitarists Scott Johnston (College of DuPage), Norman Ruiz (Columbia College Chicago), and jazz/fusion guitarist Fareed Haque (Columbia College Chicago), Russell realizes that all musical styles are related, even if that relationship is quite distant. He believes that all students need to have good practice habits and a solid foundation of music theory and technique, whether that student chooses to be a hobbyist or a career musician.
As Russell works to improve as a teacher, player, and performer, he enjoys passing that knowledge and discipline along to all of his students no matter what style of music they are passionate about. He believes that anyone who wishes to learn has that ability, whether they are an absolute beginner or an advanced student with prior musical experience. Learning, much like teaching, is a life long process, and as both an efficient learner and teacher he takes pride in developing lessons that help his students reach their goals in a timely manner.
