Story

The Art of Grilling comes to the Bay Area.

It began in the 1700’s. Brazilian cowboys, called gauchos, roamed the fertile southern Pampas, herding cattle. At night, the nomadic gauchos gathered to roast meat over an open fire pit of mesquite, sharing tasty grilled meat and stories of the day’s adventures. From these simple campside feasts, the origin of today’s churrasco style of cuisine was born.

Espetus opened its first location in San Francisco Hayes Valley, in the Fall of 2003. Bringing then to the Bay Area the first authentic Brazilian Steak House, soon becoming a renowned destination.

Gaucho chefs slowly grill choice cuts of skewered rotisserie meats over open flame to capture the authentic flavor and texture of each distinctive cut.

A parade of meats is continuously offered and carved tableside by Gaucho Chefs, evoking the fireside meals of the open plains. The Rodizio, which means continuous tableside service, continues until each guest is fully content.

With locations in San Francisco and San Mateo, Espetus Brazilian Steakhouse offers an elegant ambiance and a welcoming atmosphere. You will be transported to Brazil with a true Churrascaria experience of 14 signature cuts of meat roasted over a mesquite grill. This is served alongside a variety of fresh seasonal salads and hot dishes that reflect the bounty of Brazilian cuisine.
