Our Story

From the very first day Milan Magura opened the Beef Mart in Valparaiso in 1982, our complete emphasis has been on providing outstanding customer service and the highest quality meats.

The Beef Mart is still an old fashioned butcher shop where the days meat supply is cut fresh every morning, where we make and smoke our own sausage, where you can order that special cut of meat or fill your freezer with a “side of beef”, but it is so much more.

We have an extensive wine selection, USDA Prime meats, a vast array of imported and domestic specialty items and “hard to find” stuff you’ll find nowhere else. Our smokehouse produces some of the best Polish sausage, jerky, beef sticks and Canadian bacon you’ll ever taste. We make our own deli roast beef, deli corned beef, and corned beef briskets according to old family recipes. We feature premium lunchmeats, cheeses and homemade deli salads. Our freezer section features store made dinner entrees if you don’t wish to cook and our Milan’s Catering service can accommodate functions both large and small. And if you just need a gallon of milk our convenient size and location allows you to get in and out in a flash.

Now in our second generation, Milan’s son Michael continues to carry on that tradition with renewed emphasis on serving the people of Porter County.
