Tucked in the middle of Sweet West Oakland is Brown Sugar Kitchen! Located at the intersection of 26th and Mandela Parkway, we like to think of our triangular-shaped building as our little piece of awesome in the neighborhood. The restaurant has been thriving for over 8 years now, with people coming literally from all over the world! We've been very fortunate to receive tons of great press and accolades and even a few celebrity visitors ;-)
The cuisine at Brown Sugar Kitchen reflects Tanya Holland’s interpretation of soul food. Her influences include her African-American heritage, her formal training at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in France, and her general appreciation of a wide variety of cuisines.
