Diversity Focus

In the last four years, Berkeley has solidified its position as a startup hub. Since 2014, there has been a 23% increase in jobs available in Berkeley startups.

The City of Berkeley's Office of Economic Development (OED) wants to set the right tone for growth by ensuring that all members of the community can benefit from these new jobs.

"As Berkeley becomes a more important tech hub, our goal is to create a foundation of inclusivity. Coordinating with Localwise and other community leaders working on tech diversity helps to dramatically accelerate our efforts in this arena."

Localwise is the local job community. We help local businesses, startups and nonprofits hire local people. At Localwise, we believe that stronger local businesses create stronger local communities.

The Berkeley Startup Cluster is a collaborative effort of: the City of Berkeley‘s Office of Economic Development, the Downtown Berkeley Association, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and UC Berkeley.  Our shared goal: making Berkeley an even better place to launch a high tech startup.

TheNextSpace coworking community is a melting pot of members representing the startup scene, B2B services, digital advertising, technology and software development, to name a few.
