Social Media FAQs
Q: How will my business benefit from having a social media presence?
A: Social networking is the new platform for online marketing and you need to get involved! Having a social media presence will allow you to connect with networks of potential customers and get your name in front of people online.
Q: What are “fans”?
A: Fans are the people who “Like” your business’ fan page on Facebook. When a Facebook user becomes a fan of your business, they can see all of your posts and updates. Fans can invite their friends to “Like” your business. This expands your network and gets your name/brand out to more people.
Q: Why do I need to update my social networking pages?
A: Properly managing your social media presence is crucial. Regular postings on Facebook and tweets to Twitter, as well as updates to other social networking applications like Yelp and FourSquare not only attract a new fan base, but allow you to constantly keep your name in front of customers. When your fans share, you have created an opportunity to turn their friends into your customers.
As part of the LocalWise Social Media package, we will handle all updates to your social networking pages. The package includes updates a week/month. We can update your page upon request as well.
Q: What kinds of things should be posted to my social networking sites?
A: The possibilities are endless when considering content to post. LocalWise will connect with you to determine what needs to be posted and how often. The most important thing is getting your name out there, so even posting about what you are working on is a good idea. The key is to keep your fans interested by posting material that they will be willing to share with their friends.
Examples of content that could be used to post to your social networks include:
- Sales/specials
- New products/services
- Articles from other websites about your industry
- Links to your website
- Daily business activity updates
Q: What are “tweets”? How can I use them to promote my business?
A: “Tweets” are 140 character or less messages generated on Twitter. Tweets can be used to announce sales, advertise a new product, or simply update your activities during the business day.
Q: What other social networking options are there other than Facebook and Twitter?
A: There are hundreds of social networking sites out there, however, Facebook and Twitter are probably the most common. Other common social networking sites that LocalWise will use to set up marketing for your business include:
- Yelp: Users rate and recommend your business. Check it out at http://www.yelp.com
